Hi I have put 2 led interior lights in my ibiza and it's about as useful as a candle! I then went to my local car spares and brought a traditional bulb however when inserted doesn't light at all. Any ideas or solutions will beggreatly appreciated
Many thanks

I know it sounds like a bit of a durr question, but have you tried taking the new bulb out, rotating it 180 degrees and pushing it back in?

I don't know whether halogen bulbs are polarity sensitive but it can't harm to give it a try!

Hmm okay, usually best to start simple; are they the correct bulbs?

If it's the two little map lights you're looking at then they should be 501 T10 W5W bulbs.

Failing that, if your other LED ones still light up in the holder then I'd be inclined to say the new bulbs are dodgy, though the chances of both the new ones being knackered is minimal.

Maybe someone with a bit more knowledge could figure this one out as the only suggestions I have are the ones above :/

Was the light working before you swapped to LED ? If not , the light may not be working. The new LED may glow slightly as it is getting a bit of voltage (hence you think its not bright) and the halogen one wont work at all as it needs the full 12 volts.

I would put a volt meter across the terminals. The micro switch in the door lock mech that operates the interior light tend to stick.

Okay thanks I'll put a volt metre on it however when the door is closed there very dim obviously because there is small current there and when the door is open it does go brighter just not as bright as I need  also when I got the car they didn't have bulbs in them

Is there a method of fixing this as I have this problem on mine and if I unlock the car, open the driver's door it will re-lock itself automatically lock itslef as it hasn't detected a door opening.

Thanks for the answers but it is a huge faff to cure a microswitch issue.

I blasted mine with WD40.

I'll give the WD40 method a try, I take it you blasted the the locking mechanism or did you strip down the door and then blasted the microswitch?

I've put my multimeter across it at its putting 5.5v out I presume it should be 12?

Still needing advice haven't got 12v going to the bulbs any idea?
