If I leave my car for a day or two, when I come to drive it the speedo will not work for approx 5 mins. It will then spring back to life and generally work fine.
It very occassionallly dips but will work for the rst of the day.
The fuel gaue also seems to dip if I don't have muchfuel in, any ideas?
I'm going to a garage later on but they use bosch software not vagcom last time I had an unknown fault code 42A0 if i remmeber rightly, we cleared the codes and will check again tonight. Just thought I would ask in case it has happened to anyone before?

my speedo stopped working a while back and turned out to be the motor for the dial. i have a spare set in the house so de soldered the one off there and fitted it back on mine and hey presto worked perfect ever since. Was expecting a nightmare job but it was pretty easy. Might find that one of the plugs in the back of the speedo has coome a little loose. Its easy to remove the dials enough to be able to check the wiring. Both plugs are held in by a plastic clip (which has a hinge on it) which you have to lift up (mine were blue) and when lifting them they will pull the plug out for you. You can remove both plugs and plug them back in with no problems or errors (i was worried that the imobiliser would cause probs when i unplugged them). Any questions mate PM me and il have a chat with you about it (no expert but removed a couple of sets before).

Cheers dainott I will have alook a little later on.
Noticed when I drove the car a few mins ago it took about 5 mins for the central locking to engage as well.
