Is it possible to code a remote key with no original?

I only have my original key, no spare - and the remote central locking stopped working ages ago (tried new batteries, etc - no good)

What is the best way to get a new key working with remote locking? All the ways i have seen on here are with working original remote keys...

I am able to start the car fine with the key i have...

Is it possible to do via the same method that is used for flip-keys?

e.g. run ignition with the current key, lock/unlock door using new key, and pressing the remote buttons on the new key? I'm a bit confused as to whether you need a working orignal remote key...

That method should work yes. Providing the car side of the system is working ok of course.

Is it really that simple to code a new remote key?

It's a bit more difficult that that, as you need to get the transponder out of one key into another - but once thats done, the actual coding is easy enough.

He said the key starts the car ok - so the transponder's fine - it's just the remote needs synchronising.
