Hi to all,

I know theres another thread about the cupra being discontinued but i thought I would start this to ask a few questions.

I am planning to get a new FR 1.8T 20V in the new year and was shocked to here in the other thread that it may be discontinued.

Is any of this true? Has SEAT made an official anouncment?

Would really like to know as I have my heart set on this car really.

Cheers

James

Don't know, but you really should consider getting the TDi FR. Much more useable performance imo.

The shape is being dicontinued, ie a MK5 is in the pipe line. I know that much. Release date...... TBC

Also it took around 2 years for the cupra trim to be added to the list of mk4's.

Plus the mk5 may have the FSI, TFSI engines in them. Therefore 1.8t 20v engines will be no more.

release date for new ibiza is still mooted to be around autumn 2008. There is no way they will discontinue the mk4 just yet,

also on above point about Cupra, it will be like the Leon, they SEAT and other manufacturers know that the Performance models do sell well and help the rest of the range. So the FR model will probably be available fromlaunch or within a few months, and then the Cupra will follow probably about 12 months after. Although i never understand why they can't release them all att he same time, other manufacturers do, ie BMW with the Mini

well i do hope your right about the august 08 thing mate.

So who rekons wait til January from a haggling point of view lol?

The fr 1.8t is ebing discontinued , and the mk5 3 door wount be out until january 09 whereas the 5 door is out in the autumn 08.

No offiical announcement to the public only a bulletin to dealers.

In that case expect a few weeks delay. Usually is with new models while they iron out the faults from the prototypes before production.

So will I be able to buy a brand spanking new 1.8T 20v FR in January say?

Will they be discontinued before Aultumn 08?

The FR and Cupra don't seem to take long to find a buyer, depending on what colour you want. Probably phase out these models earlier. Just guessing though. Will have to wait for further announcements.

QUOTE "The sales person showed me the document that announced the demise of the Cupra Petrol / Diesel and FR - Said something about Week 47?? not sure what this means - But it definetley said - DISCONTINUED."

From another thread - guess week 47 means ceasing production towards end November 2007.

that ties in with what we're thinking..... which is a soon to be announced change (I think next month's motorshow will have a mk5 Ibiza concept)

nah, just that you won't get a factory build - there will be stock etc I imagine

and there's always the pre abused demonstrators

I will never ever ever buy a ex demo or courtesy car.

Being in the trade i know what happens to most of them lol.

I've been looking at buying a MK 4. You can see from my si gnature what I currently drive.

Sales guy said late 2008 (December was muttered).

At this point I was looking at a 1.2 Reference Sport for £7500 with 0%.

Then I spotted the 1.4 FS but no 0% deal.

Then I decided to abandon Seat and have searched high and low for a well equipped, reliable, economical motor--- and failed miserably.

Get this... Honda Jazz .... £9000 with no aircon. £1500 to add manual aircon! The sales guy tried to tell me that Honda aircon was better than european aircon and that Peugeot aircon is useless and doesn't work ... ******.

So I am now full circle and looking at the 1.2 Reference Sport again!

lol ive gone full circle. I have driven lots of cars and i keep coming back to this seat. Driving a diesel today to get a feel for the ibiza.

Spoke to a sales executive at seat over the phone a moment ago and he says the MK4 FR is slowly being phased out in the new year. I forgot to ask about the cupra.
