I'm interested to know about this as I've searched, but struggle to find much in-detail information.

I hear different Turbo's metioned like K03 & K04 Models mentioned. Which is best & whats a good choice of Hybrid Turbo for this engine?

Is it possible to gain 300 BHP from this engine? (Obviously with a bigger Turbo, totally stainless exhaust system, remap & clutch upgrade etc).

Are these engine supplied in the MK5 Golf also?

Sorry for so many questions, would be interesting to know :)

I hear different Turbo's metioned like K03 & K04 Models mentioned. Which is best & whats a good choice of Hybrid Turbo for this engine? The KO4/3 variation are off the petrol Turbo'd engines. The Diesel turbo's used for hybrid setups are usually the standard PD130 turbo and the PD150 turbo.

Is it possible to gain 300 BHP from this engine? (Obviously with a bigger Turbo, totally stainless exhaust system, remap & clutch upgrade etc). Most people running hybrid setups with SMF, clutch, turbo, FMIC, exhaust will see between 220bhp and 250bhp.

Are these engine supplied in the MK5 Golf also?the PD130 engines are not supplied in the MK5 golf.

I understand now :)

Would you say the PD130 motor is good bang for your buck?

It seems an engine which has good potential.

a lot of bang for buck considering its only a group 8 insurance in the ibiza.
Group 8 with 240bhp potential = very good value

The PD130 motor is one of the very best diesel engines ever made IMO :)

A stage 1 map takes them to corca 160-180bhp & 280-300lb/ft.

Better VFM than the Polo and the Polo GT is pretty rare anyhow.

About the same as the Fabia vRS, plusses and minuses for both.

The Ibiza FR TDI and Sport TDI both use the PD130 engine and I'd say its the most populare engine on this forum..

Such a high torque output in such a small car makes for a very good drive..

I love mine ! :D and it's standard lol
it still surprises a lot of big saloon drivers with how much power it has

after you tuned it too 240bhp it wont be cheap insurance anymore:D ,thats unless you plan on keeping it quite:whistle::D

great motor imo..

had mine from almost new to now with about 30k on clock and no worries thats with a stage 1 remap...full turbo-back exhaust..lowering kit, airfilter and uprated air intake.

do it

im after one next, ive used this forum for a long time and hense why im going for this engine next.....either PD-130 or FR Tdi....same engine overall but i know its a good choice

yep...remap can actual increase mpg a bit...got 500m iles out of my tank this last fill up...just reg diesel as well

With a bit of head work, an even bigger turbo and bigger injectors you might see 300, a certain Fabia has had that work done although a same issue has stopped it going on the dyno yet :(

Some tuning boundaries;

PD100, turbo is out at 150bhp
PD130, turbo is out at 190bhp, injectors are out at 230bhp
PD150/160, turbo is out at just over 200bhp, injectors are out at 230bhp

Although a Hybrid PD150/160 turbo is good for 260bhp if you can give it enough fuel (water-meth, nitrous, propane, etc)

See this is the thing. I believe that with a bigger turbo, better injectors, uprated exhaust & a good remap from people like Revo. Maybe I might be able to push the boundaries. I was looking through Rash's Ibiza's threads, but was struggling to understand what engine's he's owned & what figures he was looking at after Mods.

Whats the difference between the 1.9 TDI Sport Model & the FR. Both seem to have 130 BHP as standard...

The Fr is the updated version with different bumpers and interior, 06/56 onwards i believe. The FR also has slightly shorter gear ratios, which makes it a ball hair quicker to 60 standard;)
