Assuming this was your nearside driveshaft mate? Need to do my 04 LCR & considered using one of these Q drive shafts from ecp , I just hate working with horrible messy cv joints but the shaft is pretty cheap (same price as a decent gkn cv) and think it might be a downgrade from OE shaft

Would be interested in your thoughts on q drive shaft? Cheers

from my experience with these driveshafts Go OE over pattern parts, Im currently running a pair of used shafts that came off a 2005 FR 150 and they have so far outlasted the 4 pattern cv joints i got through before going back. Even had one inner c/v joint which clonked about from the moment i fitted it, the seller offing a 2 year warrenty on ebay fobbed me off with "well its because its lowered"

The Q drive shaft thats been fitted to my lc 180 seems fine. Im going to have a go at reconditioning my old drive shaft tho in the mean time just in case its not so good or doesnt last.i am too a bit hesitant to buy cheap ec parts. But thats what the garage fitted and they will replace it free of charge if it fails within a year

Quick update after looking at my old driveshaft. I can see that the cv joint has been incorectly put back together. Hence y they purchased a new driveshaft. Also a ball from the bearing in the cv joint has been lost. So il need a cv joint if im to repair the old driveshaft now.? Has Anyone got a link to a decent cv joint.or the part no. That i would require cheers in advance bo!.

Ok folks. So the driveshafts not been on long now. But the car has developed a whirring noise under accelaration seems to come in at around 40mph and after 80mph i cant realy hear the noise. If i coast in neutral the noise is still there.im thinking maybe a bearing?.But when i pull off from a standstill in a straight line.i have heard on a few occasions now a nocking noise from the front N/S.im thinking that maybe this is the driveshaft slipping is this possible?.any help or ideas of what i could do to narrow this down would be greatly appreciated thanks.

knocking noise could be play in the joint, jack the car up hold the wheel still and try twisting the shaft while you hand, or hold shaft and rock wheel back and forth, you should feel any play. can also hold the inner drive flange and rock the wheel to see any play in inner joint.

I do not rate pattern CV joints

Brief update.
So i checked the driveshaft and the boot is split on the gearbox end of the driveshaft.
Maybe i was just unlucky but i not going for a q.drive replacement.
