LOL, yes it seems my dirty rear end is quite famous

Well got the car OK, everything seems OK with it.

It's quite an odd feeling, it's like I never got rid, just seems so immediately familiar - not like when you buy a new car and keep looking at it whenever you go near it. I just kind of get in and drive.

But yes I'd forgotten just how dull the Passat was to drive. The Ibiza has put a smile back on my face again :)

It was either because one of the lads sounded confused about it having "sports suspension" as he said, or because I insist on selling springs in pairs, especially if I know the owner.

I know that feeling of familiarity, its like you never got rid of it! :D

Glad you're enjoying it, now ignore all the ideas for mods you see! I find the best method is to walk round the house and realise where that money would be better spent :)

Welcome back!!! Must be an odd feeling buying your own car back... Did just the guy you sold it to & then the dealer you made the swap with own it in between or was there an unknown thrown in the mix too?

It was only owned by the guy I sold it to, and then it spent a short period at the dealer before I got it back. So 2 previous owners on the V5 now, one of which is me !

Plus I've got back the big wad of invoices, receipts, handbook & service book etc that I gave the previous owner.

It is quite odd - daft things like my hands instinctively knowing exactly where to go to open the underseat tray, the stereo controls etc in the dark without really thinking about it, despite not having driven it for 2 years !

What is noticeable is the difference between the remaps on the Ibiza and Passat.
The Ibiza has a fairly rubbish map compared to most (was originally only quoted as a 155bhp map), so is down on outright power - but being quite a lot lighter than the Passat, it responds & picks up much more quickly.
The Passat on the other hand, was slow to gain speed because of the excess weight, but once moving I could really feel the power pushing on past 3k rpm, where the Ibiza feels a bit flat.

I'd forgotten how good the brakes on the Ibiza were though. Both the Ibiza and Passat had the 312mm conversion, but they weren't as effective on the Passat due to all the extra weight.

Due to that crap map my turbo failed  But since i had a new turbo and remapped again it flies up to the limiter, makes the ibiza much more fun.

Max torque from 1900 till 3000 rpm. Just that the cat seems to be clogged up so i think i'll be ordering on of these next: De-Cat in combination with removing the central Muffler :D

Some luck! Not everyone would've been so careful as to continue the back to birth service records nuts like us keep...

A little off topic I suppose, but do you have any idea what the other driver of your Ibiza flogged it on for?

You had the same chip as me originally didn't you.

Was it able to be serially remapped without removing the ECUI, or did you have to replace the chip first ?

You mean price ? He was given £3600 for it part-ex. But it was very badly stonechipped and needed paintwork sorting.
Or do you mean what car did he get ? A Rover 75 Tourer (estate)....he needed an estate to carry his drums around, plus they had a kid on the way so wanted something bigger.

Chip was removed and replaced with a new one, this was because of the coding of the new software. Well worth the change.

I can see if i can log the boost and fuelling if you want??

No I wasn't being that forward & asking how much he was paid for it. Yet I'm sure it helped you make your trade!

A rover estate sounds like had the 2 of you spoken sooner you could have save him some real heartache...

No it's OK. Just wondered if I could get a straightforward serial remap or whether the ABT chip had to physically come out. Handy that someone else has been through the same thing !
