JOM Coilovers

Hi All, just thought some of you may need to know this.

I have had a few issues with me 1.4 16v, MOT related. One of these issues was a rear coil sring that was broken. Oh well I thought, I could buy a new spring for £40 quid, but the car may sit lopsided if the other one in knacked, so I could get two at around £80. On the other hand I could get a set of coilovers for around £200 and not only will it look good a tad lower, I get four springs and shocks COOL!

I took it back for a retest and the MOT tester tells me that those aftermarket springs are COIL-BOUND, what I said, they are aproved I even have a certificate. I pleaded a bit and he has noted it on the paperwork, but reluctantly passed,

He said he didn't write the rules, but any spring where a coil touches anywhere is said to be COIL-BOUND.

Just in case you are considering buying some JOM Coilovers, beware it may come in to question at MOT time.

Cheers.
