Nerr i did it without mate, took some swearing, spring compression and a big hammer, but out it popped!!

You need to undo the hub nut and also the ball joint, be careful you don't snap it off though! Then slide the hub forward, the rest is straightforward, on all corners.

Yeah the ball joint was the one that we were having problems with. Trying to undo the 19mm nut underneath but the bolt is just spinning.

hey, just checking to see how the lower springs are going?

I just bought some 17" alloys and now the car looks a little like its on stilts! (never got round to fitting those other springs, long story!) Worried about loosing comfort etc for normal driving!

Did you ever fit a induction kit?

Hi

Nah haven't as of yet. Am at Uni atm and haven't driven my Leon since October!!! Springs are shithot. Only grumble is the reduced range of the shocks (speedbumps) but just don't tank it over them. Other than that comfort is great, handling is amazing, braking is the most improved.

Does that answer your question?

Jon

Yeah, thanks. I was just a bit worried as i do a fair amount of motorway driving and didnt want to make it stupidly uncomfortable! Might have to do this over easter then!

Thanks

Yeah, get good springs though, I have Koni's on mine. Motorway driving is still very very comfortable, but bends are amazing. I do have 18" 225s though.

yup, i did notice a difference on the 17s, mine are 225/45/17.

Looking at koni or eibach think they're fairly decent makes

Sounds good. You'll have the same width tyres but they'll be a tad more forgiving over little bumps, and I mean stuff like gravel on the road or little tiny bumps, I seriously can't complain with my 18s though, car is mint, and it looks fly.

What wheels are they? Starfish? Also smash a Spltter on if you haven't already, it looks like a more fiddling shitty job than it is, it is fiddly, but once you start its like "oh i see". You can align it easily once the car is jacked up, and as you can see from my pics on page 4 or something it makes a massive difference.

Splitters are £17 or so from dealer.

No they are from an FR i think, unfortunatley they're black and not sure about the colour scheme. But they were so cheap i thought i might aswell try and can always get them resprayed later. I have just started a thread in readers ride's.

Yup done the splitter already!

Right well here are the promised pictures of the splitter, I think it makes a world of difference.

Hi Jon, Another member to the club, haha 1.6 black sx 2004, im thinking on fitting a lcr splitter myself, how did you do it mate? did you have to do any modifications to it? cheers Alex

How do you guys put ur pics on here? i want to upload some of my 1.6 16v sx but cant, it only does it through URL nothing from my computer, just internet

Been years but someone just linked me back to it. This is how it looked after the springs were done and I'd hypercleaned it. I paid a garage to do it in the end, lucky as when they did it one of the bolts was so tight it sheared right off!

Selling up

Hi anyone reading this:

I've just taken a new job and don't think I'll ever need this again. It may be for sale. It's a bit of renovation job for sure: got Koni springs and RS4 wheels. Still got original wheels and springs in the garage.

Would anyone be interested and at what price?

Thanks,

Jon
