cool thanks!!! that worked! although its extremely tempermental. locks first time but i have to press the unlock button about 20 times for it to unlock! maybe low batteries?! ill change them to see! if not where would i get a new key from?

New batteries are about £2 Hint: try Tesco's

New keys are about £70 from a dealer Or just try good 'ole Ebay. Only thing is that you can never be sure that the one you're buying off there is in working order......

What year car is it mate?

There are two different types of key, IR ones, and RF ones. The IR are the pre '96 and RF and '96-'99

The IR has a normal 'yale' type blade to the key, and the RF one has a laser cut blade.

its a "r" reg, 98. yea its like a blade with a "squiggle" cut down the middle of each side.

You need the RF style one then

Just get the whole key off Ebay, and then swap the blades over, 30sec job with a small screwdriver to lever it apart.

cool, does it have to be a seat ibiza one coz ive seen one on ebay, says it fits a GALAXY,SEAT ALHAMBRA,VW SHARAN REMOTE KEY FOB. looks exactly the same as my one tho.

Just check the P/N on the side of your key matches the number listed

very nice young man, the one mud flap look along with the rub strips down the side make it look very sexy LOL

Overall body work looks cool from the pics and the fact you've sorted a few niggles, still a bargain How've u found driving it compared to the 16v previously?

Driving has been fun actually compared to the 1.6 Cordy !!! 20+ extra bhp, and bout a tonne lighter !!

Compared to the 2.0 16v..... it's alot easier to drive on the commute into work etc due to the low down torque. But when you start opening her up on the m'way, it startes to struggle above the NSL

Contemplating a slightly wilder Cam, 265 maybe

So not sure there's many that I haven';t owned 1.4 16v maybe.....

Mud-flap has now been removed, along with side-rub strips

Need to re-fit the exhaust tonight to stop it banging under hard acceleration !!

Good boy

Main exhaust banging probs is down to a weak midsection. When hot especially, it'll flex, and expand backwards. Backbox might even start banging too as a result. Good luck

It was ok until I replaced the exhaust clamp which secures the straight through centre section, to the CAT. It was loose and blowing slightly, so took the old one off, pulled the joint apart, and applied a liberal qty of gun-gum, slid it back together, fitted a new clamp nice a tight.

Just need to 're-position' the back box on it's hangers, and secure it in place to stop it sliding about !!!

exhaust adjusting seems to be a slippery slope once cocked up! lol Sometimes sleeves and clamps aren't enough on the midsections, right pain! Right, off to tear things apart in my engine bay!

realised why it's banging after I fitted the new clamp..... it had slipped off the bloomin' joint !!!

So I had to get the ramps out, and get dirty crawling underneath to try and get it back together properly and then get the clamp to sit right without falling out again!

Thought I'd managed to do it, including putting a load more gun-gum around the joint.... well, I've solved the 'blowing' joint problem....

But I'm now getting a banging from where the back box is hitting the bracket on the car that holds the rubber exhaust mount near the rear beam.... ARGH !!!!

Need to find some way to alter the 'length' of the bar which supports the back box through the rear exhaust mount. That will prevent the back box moving to one side and hitting the bracket......

Anyone got a small blow-torch I can borrow ?!?
