Ive been looking at all the intakes that you guys have got, and to be honest im totally put off as you have to loose the engine cover (takes away the OEM look). Plus as my previous car was running TB's and had no sound-deadening i want to keep my Cupra nice and quiet for a change. (so that defo rules out CAI's)

What i want to know is, has anyone tried a K&N/GREEN COTTON style replacement panel filter ?? Im looking at these as they 'should' give minimal gains and will last a hell of alot longer than the standard restrictive crap!!

Any help much appreciated !! Cheers peeps !! :D

You can fit a Panel filter with no problems at all,Most Cupra owners opt for induction kits tho

Where as us Diesel drivers are all running Panel filters without problems

yeh im just wondering which to get?
green cotton, bmc, K&N etc

I had a Green Panel on me Ibiza

Ive got a K&N on me Leon,Only reason i got the K&N was i couldnt find a green one locally and couldn't be a55d waiting for it to be delivered so i just went out and bought a K&N

ahh right well ive just seen so many mixed views, seen a green cotton one for sale so think i'm gonna go for that. just used BMC previously and had no issues. got a 2003 20V 180.

Whats your reason other than not wanting to loose the engine cover for just having a panel?

IMO i would want to loose the engine cover asap, the amount of times it has smashed down on my fuel pump sender plug and sent the car into limp mode is un real, bad design and if you are thinking of tuning in the future a CAI / induction kit is defo the way forward.

I'm currently running the pipercross version albeit only for a week so far. I can not comment on improvement as it was only in the car for 15 min drive down back roads before I had revo installed.

The pipercross filter does look good and well made and a vast improvement on the OEM piece of paper!

I have however succumb to the ITG Induction kit so the pipecross is only going to a 2 week run in my Cupra!

I am not sure if any one filter is better than the other tbh but as you say they pretty much have a lifetime guarantee and only need removing for cleaning.

This is the pipercross one;

Purchased mine (for the Cupra Mk2) from DPM

Claims are up to 5% performance increase

Why not a cone filter? ;) attached to the engine cover.Works great (way better than the panel anyway),sounds great and you keep your cover:p

I have the K&N panel filter and I can honestly say I ain't noticed any real difference, tho the original filter that had had only been in for 4000 miles was quite dirty, think I'll eventually bite the bullet and get an intake!
