K&N Panel filter on a 1.6.. any good??

Just wondering if anyone has ever put a K&N panel filter in a 1.6.. and does it boost performance?? can you tell any difference in the sound of the engine?? its the sound im most bothered about.. not loud enough for me

adds a bit of throttle response, if you want a turbo sucking noise towards 5-6k rpm get a 57i kit, loved it to bits on my 1.6 with milltekexhaust!

or go all out and get a typhoon kit, i eventually upgraded to that and it sounded mean!
