Doesnt matter who you know and what box is in it, your not getting 240hp out of a derv with just a tuning box. Derv stage 1 vs Cupra stage 1 forget it!

ha! apologies. i forgot to say mapped and boxed! duhh!! blonde moment there lol

having had all 3.

VXR......worse on fuel than cupra. Average high 20's MPG, terrible...and i mean terrible torque stear. Far too light on the back end...same problems as the old Mk2 Astra GTE.....if you go that far back. Nice looking car...but inside feels cheap and stereo is RUBBISH.

Focus ST- worse on fuel than cupra...low 20's MPG. Very nice to drive....sounds loveely when you open it up. Well balanced....feels more like a large engined BMW in power delivery. Probably my favourite out of the 3....but fuel consumption makes is a pig. And...of course...theres the image. Also...its due for replacment next year. So residuals will drop.

Cupra- Low 30's MPG as an average. Nice shape...drives very well far better than the VXR, not as good as the ST....can be a little un involvling at times, interior on facelift is noticably better that the older ones. 5 door practicality and most will assume its a 3 door. Rare-ish. Oh...and facelifted ones sound alot nicer than the older ones too. Think they played with the airbox/exhaust accoustics a little.

Hope that helps?

Tuning box and mapping isn't the same. A tuning box tricks the ecu into thinking the engine is colder than what it is and dumps more fuel into the engine. A remap ups the boost and fuelling which is also safer for the car

Im getting 26mpg at the min, mainly from granny in it everywhere because of sh!t conditions and crap tyres!

Might aswell wait till the new pilot super sport hits the shelves now, and give em go.

Cupra all day long for me (thats prob why i bought it) quite abit quicker when felted with and still good mpg and running costs and in the face lift the interior is better which is the only real let down in the pre FL.

The other two wouldnt get a look in and both have a chav appeal on them thanks to jeremy clarkson :D

I ain't never seen above 27 in my cupra, and yeah Clarkson disses motors that the ordinary man would be able to afford but ain't ever mentioned a SEAT probably because the badge ain't good enough!

I can manage 35-37mph on my run to work (50 mile round trip) but to do it I have to sit at 60mph (I know its a Golf but its just the same as a Cupra realy)..

Round town I usualy average 27-29mpg...

Short journeys, like the school run, Im lucky if I get 20mpg. On the motorway, 37 at a steady 70 and I've seen 41-42 on a steady B road drive. But my average is about 25 too.
At the moment it's great on fuel. I haven't been to a petrol station for three weeks now! But that's due to the bad weather and cadging lifts from people with 4x4's or just walking instead.

My mates VXR is awful on fuel, it is 280bhp but still it struggles do 20mopg half the time, ive heard leon's are better.
