Key wont re-code

I am following the guide for the Mk3's but I cant get the key to re-code? I am sure I am doing it right because the LED is flashing 5 times, only thing that is missing is the doors dont try and lock or unlock.

Also the CL doesn't work off the door controls even? I have no blown fuses, none that I can see anyway.

Any ideas? Am I missing something? Do you think all the rear electrics being unplugged would effect it? The boot lock is connected though, just not the rear light earths or lights.

1 - keys doing its thing by the sounds of it

2 - you reckon the key will activate a central locking system that isnt working anyway ??

3 - loose earths and wiring wouldnt be a bad place to look first to be honest

Sorry Flapper I forgot to mention the doors dont even lock off the CL button on the drivers door.

i guessed that

you could well be coding in the key perfectly but iof the door locks don't work at all not even mechanically then you have no chance of telling if remotely is ok too

i can't imagine the rear wiring affecting it but earth wise it would be reccomended to connect up at least

try getting them working manually and then test the remote as you will 'hope'fully find it's ready to go

Mmm, ok, this is now weird. The engine now starts off the key but no CL and the alarm is going off when the engine is running.

Someone is coming around tomorrow to code the key.

Right then, he says it's not that. It's the central locking just wont work at all.

I got the alarm to stop going off and then but all the remaining rear loom in and the car starts to problems now.

Just wont lock at all. I am not getting in and out through the boot
