Knocking noise after steering rack replaced

after just having my steering rack replaced i now have a loud knocking noise when i am turning some one pointed out that my top mounts dont seem to be sitting right and my left wheel is sitting far back!!!

anyone any ideas on what could be causing this????

Was the whole hub, suspension and wish bone removed? i did this on another car but there was no need to remove all these bits, the rack should unbolt and slide out, and the same to re-fit, so if the wheel is in a different position something is very wrong.

The steering rack is bolted to the subframe on the LCR (dunno about the LC) I would have thought they would have had to drop this to get the steering rack out.
What sort of noise is it and when does it happen?
Have you have a 4 wheel alignment done since?
