knocking when revving

hi all,

noticed a knocking coming from the engine when i have the clutch pedal down and give it a rev. but when i dont touch the clutch pedal and give it a rev there is no knock at all.

but confused as its first time ive heard it and bit of a novice with the pd leons atm

i have a mk1 fr pd150 if thats any help

any knocking noises only when the clutch is being pressed down with the car stationary would signify clutch, clutch cover clutch centre or flywheel dmf or even gearbox. if the problems with the car when driving can be drive shaft bolts on gearbox loose or becoming loose .wheel nuts not tight enough, drive shaft inner or outer joints. ive seen a car with a rattle that turned out to be the clutch cover springs the fingers that equalise the pressure had snapped and the clutch failed only 2 months later. and clutch failure where the friction material on the centre plate completely fell off due to the rivets holding the material failing.

It only seems to happen when the car is stationary and the clutch pedal is pressed. Makes a continuous knock when revving up. But nothing when the clutch pedal is left alone.
