It's always quite interesting that people will spend a lot on suspension/ARBs/Engine mods but not tyres. I wonder if it's because tyres are seen as consumables that wear-out after 15k miles. For me they are the most important part of the handling.

Not having a go at anyone on this thread, its just that Avon and Falken never come top of any tyre tests yet people buy them because they are cheaper options. Anyway, don't mind me...

Avon are for sure not cheap, i just did not like them at all - very much down to the car & driver, could my setup & style of driving not work well with the Avon's ??
I dont pick the dearer rubber as it's not likely to last that long, road conditions, punctures & track days all kill the rubber so it's a Cost Vs Grip issue for me, will the Falkens lose say 10% grip over a more costly tyre but i can get twice as many for the cost of AN-Other tyre.....
All interesting and good fun, but interesting to note that there is no sientific info on tyres, what compound is the best, wear rates, cornering grip)...... only what us guys comment on

I would like to see some more tyre tests as the tyre manufacturers to update their tyres from time to time. For example, this year the Perilli P-Zeros have gone through a major update, but I won't be paying for a set until I've seen the Autocar/Evo comparisons.
I've liked all the toyo's I've had. Im running the PX4's. They are not that cheap and for me along with the T1r are good value for money tyres that give good grip and ok wear. I've mainly heard positive things about the Falken 452. Its been well rated by many people and is a tyre Im considering as its a similar price to the toyo's. The problem is once you start looking at the big names is that a lot of them arent really much better. Many of them you are paying for the name plus a very small amount of grip. There are acceptions like Goodyear GSD3's and obviously Michelin pilot sport 2. I've heard a lot of good things about Vredestein Spotrac 2/3 and ultrac series to. These have been high in tyre tests. But again very expensive. How much better than the toyo are they?

I would say yes it has a bit. When I look at it now it definately sits in the front arches alot more nicely than before the kit was fitted. No problems with speed bumps or anything so far (and there are several nearby which I use every day almost).
I don't know whether I have just gotten used to it too quickly or not but I'm slightly disappointed that the ride is not of a higher quality but then it is stiff suspension and I guess you have to expect that.

Where did you get the wheel alignment done Jon?
My current tyres are scrubbed and getting fed up of replacing them when most of the tyre has good tread

A & A tyres off Hadfield Road, £28 to check and adjust the toe. If you do go there make sure you know how to adjust the camber so you can tell them since they couldn't work it out when I took my car in.
