Hello,

My front Brembos are both suffering from the lacquer coming off.

I have rang a dealer and they say its not covered under warranty.

I have done a search and found that many have had similar problems, but cant see the conclusion.

As anybody made the repair themselves, or whats the argument with the dealer.

My LCR is three year old in june.

a lot of people go to a different dealer who will replace them.
I have seen many replaced under warranty, although SEAT don't really think its a warranty problem so its a hard fight to get it done i believe.

Both my front calipers replaced under warranty on my old LCR, no fight first one BIG hassles to get second one done dealer wanted to respray it, I laughed and quoted paint warranty then got on to Seat Customer "couldnt" care and fought some more and it was finally done! They are appox £350 each so Seat hate sorting them but surely they just ship them back to brembo??

i thought Brembo did a refurb service on them. I make sure i polish mine when i do the car and always clean off the brake dust. have to cos they cost a bloody nuff, althought they have saved my bacon on quite a few occasions now.

i polish mine once a year whem it goes in for service, once i used alloy wheel cleaner and it turned them pink (not using that stuff again) and had to polish them up again! just wondered if you had used alloy wheel cleaner aswell

mine have done the same i phoned seat usless customer care an they said sorry sir not coveredan dealer said no sir not covered but i will b phonin seat again an arguin loads, how can i find a list of dealers in my area

i dont use alloy cleaner---you can definately see the path of the leaking fluid down the caliper on both units---sloppy work by mechs!!!

Really depends on which alloy cleaner you use. Some are very aggressive as they
use some acids to clear tar and baked brake dust rapidly.
Check 1z (einzette) products or the car detailing section. ;)

Mine have the lacquer coming off as well and I'll try and invoke the paint warranty argument.

No it doesn't depend on what alloy cleaner you use. Like Fast_Eddie said, "I don't use alloy cleaner" so how can it?

Just like on mine where you can see a path from the bleed nipple - it bubbles the lacquer, then the water gets in.

I dont use alloy cleaner, but when i do i take the alloys off!

Just found a bubble of laqure on mine and thers no sign of fluid leak! Not had the fluid changed either!
