Hi all parked up for a while earlier with my engine running and my temperature gauge started straying from its usual 90 degree point, i didnt even let it get to the next marker before switching her off and popping the bonnet, now recently i changed a few small coolant hoses to silicon ones, it seems that one of them (pictured below) is leaking, could this cause my problem,? or am i looking at the temp sensor, thermostat, route?

The fans kicked in on tick over, so i assume the fuses must be fine? Coolant was seeping out of the inlet manifold side of that red hose, didnt seem to be tight enough on the steel pipe that runs back across towards the expansion tank

Overheating on tickover when the temp is normally OK whilst driving along could well be a faulty waterpump. The waterpump impellor becomes loose on the shaft and doesn't spin properly and pump the water round at low engine revs.

well i loosened expansion tank cap to release the pressure from system and to top up, and once i topped up and let it settle i started it up with the cap off and squeezed all the hoses to ensure there was no air in the system and it seemed asif the coolant was being pushed back to the expansion tank :S

Well it seems my water pump isnt kerput afterall, tightened all the small hoses, (these seem to be the fault as the quality of the hose is naff) and topped up coolant and let engine warm up to temperature and it stayed at 90, after half hour of this took it for a little drive to town and back and fan is cutting in nicely, so im gonna change thermostat and coolant temp sensor for now and, gather the parts for the dreaded timing belt job which i am going to attempt myself

Thanks for the advice though guys
