Hi Guys,

Is it me or does the Leon Cupra 180 feel abit underpowered?

I thought for a light car with a VW/Audi 1.8T engine it would very impressive (some of the posts I've read on here suggest this) but I feel the car feels restricted and you don't get the 'thrill' as you would in Civic Type R!

Can anyone tell me what the real 0-60 time is supposed to be - i've read 8 secs to 7.4!!!!!!!

Any suggestions on best place to get it re-mapped?

Cheers.

A Civic type R is lighter and has more power hence it feels and is quick. To be honest I never thought my old LC was up to much even when remapped and hence it got binned for an LCR. I also wouldn't describe a Leon as light at any stretch of the imagination... 1320kg is heavy for a family hatch. I think the factory 0-62 was 7.7...

Have you found the LCR to what you originally wanted (i.e. power)?

Hi mate, i have a friend who has a Seat Leon, keeps referring to it as an LC!! Confuses me beacause i can't keep up with the LCR's, CTR's etc.... Anyway my friends car is quite quick, he manages to beat TDI's off the line, however he does struggle against Civic VTI's, (160 bhp i think????). Anyway it's a nice car for the money you pay.

Assam.

It's a heavy car really... and the stock power and torque levels aren't exactly amazing. Having said that, they've alot of potential and are a great road car.
Have a look at our website for details on software and your nearest dealer!

That is really funny because at first I thought people refering to LCR/CTR etc were talking about engine parts of sommat which I thought it was daft!

VTI's are fast, I think people underate them!

You can't compare a Cupra to a TDI!

I wouldnt be so quick to paint all TDi's with the same brush... once remapped the TDI is a real handfull for any LC....:p
Some running 190-205bhp and torque figures over 300lbs:D

Thats without reminding you that the TDi was ALSO part of the "Cupra" range too....

I would second that -even without any mods - I have managed to embarass a number of cars.

VTI's are great cars - even the stealth (kinda ugly) 5dr 1.8 is rapid and a good handler. Fantastic build quality too.

Test drove a couple of LC's before I bought my LCR (basically because I was sick and fed up of looking for an Ovni LCR) and I wasn't that impressed with them, they had no real shove (if it should being 180bhp) but was a progressively quick car, and for the money I dont think there is much better. Like others have said, all it takes is £500 and you have a much better and quicker (probably what you originaly had in mind) car.

mine seems fast enough :\ iv previously owned a 150bhp 106 gti and it seems as fast if not quicker than that

i think youv gotta know how to drive em, drive em like a n/a car and you will get nowhere

worcester west mids, i fully plan on getting it mapped matey, im just commenting that the std power seems fastish to me and im used to quickish cars, maybe theres sumthing wrong with his :\

My brother had a special edition VTI and I destroyed it every time even when I was standard.

PS: 0-60 standard is 7.4 I think. Add a remap and you are talking low 6s

i doubt you 'destroyed' it. should be fairly even to 60 but the LC will easily pull away past that. After all the LC does have 10HP and lot more torque behind it. i was always a lot more confident cornering in my VTI than my LC, especially in the wet.

when my lc was standard it felt fast. id even say too fast for a family hatch .

it was a bit bouncy on the rear so i think 180 was about right, and you got good safe grip at that power. could never describe it as underpowered.

chipping and modding it changes the car to somthing of a handful in the wet so i think it starts loosing its family hatch badge.

all the cupras are great in that there a great modding platform.
