Bit of help needed please guys.... More a rough idea of things it could be as I don't have vag-com and can't get it to a garage anytime soon.

Basically car cut out on the way home today, had no warning of this whatsoever.

Was at a roundabout and the car just died while stopped in neutral. Battery light come up on the dash solid and it wouldn't restart for love nor money.. Managed to push it round the corner to safer area where I could have a look. All connections on battery appear to be as they should.

The car started up after few attempts but really didn't want to. Battery light went off at this stage though.

Managed to get the car home and needed to drive to the gf's house. So started her up and same thing, she didn't want to know (no not the gf lol ;)) but then success got it to idle, but now the EPC light was stuck on and even after 4/5 mins idling was at 1250rpm. EPC light is to do with electronic accelerator control correct?! Anyway, switched off for another 5 mins and restarted and the light had gone and back to normal idle speed.

Do you think my battery is dying and I need to replace? Coil packs? Ignition? Tbh I've had the car since Feb and none of that has been replaced, only servicing I've had is an oil change when sump was replaced with new one.

Any suggestions please fire away. Was going to get the full superpro bush kit this month payday, but now thinking get her in for a service and new battery spark plugs coil packs etc?

You got a multi meter mate ? Test the volts to see if it's the battery , it won't be the coil packs they won't cause it to cut out it just makes it sound like a scooby lol ,

I would guess throttle pedal sensor failure or another critical sensor (engine speed sensor maybe?). VAG-com or a dealer's diagnostics are the way forward.

Sorry mate not got one. Really got nothing useful myself to test the cars readings. And only my mate has vag-com and he's not free at the mo it seems. Lol it sounded like a scooby 2 weeks back when a boost pipe come off at motorway speed..

mate I really think you've hit the nail on the head there. the car has been fine since I 1st posted this, but today it cut out on a main road at nearly 30mph! This is bloody dangerous and starting to annoy me. Hazards on engine cut out sitting on a main road in rush hour. NOT HAPPY!! [:@]

I got it started again and home but the EPC light was on again. Left it an hour to calm the f**k down lol, and went back out there and she doesn't want to start again, so left it a bit and eventually it started. EPC light still on - now with this on the idle will NOT DROP BELOW 1200rpm!
It can't be a battery or coilpack problem if it starts up most of the time and I got all the way to work fine this morning, but randomly on the way home the battery light come on the car cut out and I come to a stop..

Must must be this EPC sensor! PLEASE does anyone know where I can find the EPC sensor and check it over? I've looked at what I can get to around the battery etc and all appears fine.

I really need to get this fixed asap as I use the car everyday and with it cutting out like this it's getting a bit dangerous now.

If anyone's had this problem please let me know, and how much it was to sort. Any help appreciated!

Any ideas guys? Pointers on where this sensor is? I feel I can't drive my car to work at the mo due to this prob and just want it sorted asap.

Anyone any ideas? Going to call SEAT in a mo, no doubt it'll be 'bring the car in, we'll scan it for 10 million quid and tell u then how much it'll cost'

Tom you want to get your self a fault code reader from eBay. There about £18. Search seat fault code reader on eBay. It's the orange one you want. I have one and it's fantastic, well worth £18.

Forgot to say I think your MAF is dead, if you run the car without the maf pluged in the ESP light will come on so that would suggest your maf is dead

Cheers sam. Do they just plug straight into the port where the laptop would usually go?

I need one in my life!

Your right what you say but it's the 'EPC' light which is coming on mate. After I've managed to start it when it cuts out, the EPC light comes on and the idle will not drop below 1200rpm to normal 750 :(

And the car was fine on the way to work this morning. Typical... I'm scared to drive it home, lol.

i can 2nd that for the fault code reader.
have you tried unplugging the maff???
if the maff was dead it wouldent start at all.

Unlugged and plugged back in but still happening wayne.
It started fine this morning with no EPC light so guess the MAF isn't dead so it seems.
can someone give me a link to the fault code reader I need to order? there's a few there and I want the 'SCN standard' one that everyone use with succes, lol thanks guys
