Hi will removing the cats and putting the decat pipe in will it fail the mot.??It may sound stupid but i dont have a clue about these things.Cheers

yes, unless you know a friendly mot tester. also will throw up cel light aswell, youll need it mapped out unless you can live with it.

One of my mates that works for VW told me that he was told by a mechanic that the 1.8t's dont actualy need a CAT, something todo with the tubr. dunno.

has this any truness?

It will deffo fail matey, plus if your not replacing any of the std exhaust it will sound like a bag of **** ( i speak from experience) i had my decat on for 2 weeks and had to take it off the sound was terrible, so the cats back on and the decat has been put aside untill i can afford a blueflame catback non res.

i know it willd efo fail.. i got one on mine and when you come to traffic lights you can smell it... really strong turbo smell lol

Doesn't matter..... it must have one by law to pass a MOT after 1993

Actually he might be right.....I was told this by an MOT tester but reading on the net it seems the law was changed at 1993 and its the volume of the harmfull emmisions was revised.
