Im thinkin of dropping the LCR engine itno my 1.6 rather then buying a cupra as i want the original shape and with mine being on an 05 its the last of the orignals, im guessing i could part ex mine plus £1500 for a cupra or spend less than that on a low mielage engine, plus there will be all the mods already carried out on the 1.6. Would i just need the engine and ECU? Are the wiring looms compatible?

does the complete engine come for 1500 ?

engine
gearbox
exhaust
ECU

but if you do this on a stock 1.6 dont you think you need the a little braking kit and sway bars for the handling ?

better of just buying an LCR ?

If going legit with it insurance would have a field day and may not even insure you if the conversion not done by a garage. Also as Witalik said braking needs to be considered as no good being able to go fast if you can't stop...... :)

Buy an LCR, you will never replace everything on the 1.6 without spending waaay more. Things like the steering rack get overlooked. even getting the interior and bodykit will cost an arm and a leg, not to mention resale once it's all done. I used to have a 1.6 Leon mk1 and I was considering it myself. Do the smart thing, you wont look back.
