LCR: have you crunched your gearbox when selecting i.e 3rd gear?
I'm not calling you a liar at all, but I cant see how changing the oil would change it at all as we are talking about an ODD crunch when not being precise enough on doing a VERY FAST gear change if you see what I mean?! (especially when its from 2nd to 3rd gear only!)
I don't see how a short shift would fix this as said above, if anythin it would prob make it happen more often!
As its an even quicker shift than before and the revs loose than tiny millisecond they had to drop slightly!
Well that's one thing that doesn't plague the derv - revs are definitely not an issue for me. I find it easier to change gear with the short shift fitted because it makes the selection more precise.
When I was looking into changing the oil I came across this which might explain things, I appreciate the application is pretty different but the theory may be relevant in this instance...

Well basically you are, I changed to redline oil as I researched other forums such as tt.co.uk, vwvortex and a couple of others that I can't remember off the top of my head. They all said changing the oil improved the gear change and helped with the 2nd-3rd crunch.
I was seeing the crunch from 2nd-3rd at high rpm, not changing gear as quickly as possible...not into that as I think thats a very rough way to drive and is hard on the transmission.
