ever so lately when i give my car the full beans, at say 3500 rpm their is an awful shreiking sound coming from the turbo. It almost sounds like a supercharger :lol:....im slightly worried it could be a sign the turbo is on its way out, but its more likely a pipe may be blocked or coming loose...

also, in the last few days after a bit of a thrash (and after letting the car cool down) the radiator fan seems to be making a horrible squeaky sound....are the two related?...

any help appreciated...
 
Sounds like it could be a collapsed boost pipe/silicone hose? Have you ever used a cheaper alternative from ebay?

Sometimes these warm up, become maliable and collapse under the vacuum, the shriek would be the air squeezing through!

Mine turned out to be the pipe coming off the turbo of the turbo had just slipped the edge off and it was a Forge one. Worth a look......:D

sounds similar ed, but its not that prominent.....more second gear boosting as it doesnt happen at motorway speeds etc.....

any ideas with the squeaky radiator after i have turned the engine off?
 
squeaky radiator might be your auxiliary water pump on its way out. Might also be possible that the noise from your turbo could be down to the compressor touching the side of the casing.
 
On full boost does it sounds like a kettle whistling???

if so i would take your TIP off and try and look inside the housing. could be 1 of the blades has bent and is off balanace making the noise. seen it a few times
 
i had the noise your on about.... week later new turbo required...well was in my case sounded like a siren was amusing at first till i found out the cost of a new turbo :cry:, but hope yours is something else mate good luck...
 
After I had mine remapped it shrieked sometimes when pressing on, something to do with turbine blades or something according to revokev.
 
thanks people, plenty of info there to think about and to sort out.....i dont think the turbo is on its way out though as the car still shifts when it wants to...

any idea how much the auxillary water pump is to get replaced or is it fixable?
 
the 1 we had in had a bent blade sounded like a kettle goin off but still had the power.

just the shaft is out of balance and makes the noise
