Hello all,
This is probably quite a stupid question but due to the poor weather I've not had a chance to replace this.

I have a LCR and the splitters a bit scraped, I'm looking to replace it... how does it attach/detach?

Do I just pull it a certain way?!

Yep, start from the outer edge, pull sharply away from the wing horizontally, repeat on the other side. Then you'll be left with the two posts which go into the underside of the front bumper, push hard down on the flat, horizontal bit at the front where there's a gap between the splitter and the bumper, use your foot if necessary.

Fitting is the reverse, push the two central posts up into the holes in the bottom of the bumper then starting at the middle push the clips into the lip on the bottom of the bumper, working your way out towards the end at the wing, then repeat at the other side.

my car has churned throught 5 splitters now within 2 years courtesy of carefully placed potholes.

after 5 splitters iv found a quick way of changing them;
when the middle bit goes into the hole it spreads out so it stays in place, so i got a set of pliars and squeezed the bits just under the bumper and twisted and pulled the splitter out.

putting it on, as said, just use a jack and it pops in.

took me 5 mins both ways

when putting it back on do you do the middle 2 first?

Also how do you get the jack under it?? ive got about an inch clearance between splitter and floor!

Try getting one or both front wheels up onto a kerb or on a speedbump i guess!

do the sides first, slap them in place, that way you can attack the middle bits with the jack. i think i once drove onto bricks for the clearance. found a jack in my neighbours garage that fits now though

Replaced mine recently and as said before yank the the outer egdes off first but as for the two large central clips I had a different approach. I tried to pull them out but the flexing of the bumper looked as though it may be damaged so easy method...... Get a sharpe wood chisel and flat face up insert in at a slight downward angle and tap with a mallet. It sounds excessive but if sharpe it will just slice straight through the plastic fixings and the splitter will drop straight off. No damage to the paintwork. The cut off lugs will likely fall out at some point whilst driving.

Getting back on was tough but washing up liquid and the jack idea eventually pops them in.

I'd use a hair dryer on installing one. They other day i noticed one of my central clips was out. I used a hair dryer to heat the clip and it popped in easy as, let it cool and its well secure. Better than going at it with jacks and chisles imo. You'd had trouble doing this when trying to remove the splitter tho!!

Hi All,
Just went out and put the car on the Kerb and tried pulling quite hard, Small amounts of front bumper flex made me reconsider.

I'm not sure what I Should do now! I want to replace it but I'm too afraid to break the lower half of my bumper! I've text a mate who works at Seat hopefully he'll pop over, If not I'll try again another time. I'm probably just not pullping hard enough

Stand on the middle bit and jump up and down on it will soon pop out , sam it's hardly a bargin if it's broken lol next time mines fooked you can have it for 10 quid plus 15 quid postage so I can get a new one lol

Tried for 2 hours to get it off, I'm just not strong enough.
Dan, Not keep on jumping up and down on it isn't it clipped in? Wont it just tear all the plastic holders out the bottom
