im not saying its a bad idea all this power Im just saying as someone who has a LCR and doesnt drive it 10 tenths I can see its limitations, i.e. its FWD and I cant see all that power being used effectively as a RWD. And all that power has to have an effect on the handling?

0-100 in 11 secs and 0-60 in 5.4 would indicate to me that in gear times are savage.

As for being slow round corners, ask Tiff Needell why he couldn't shake a yellow shopping car off round Castle Coombe in a Radical SR3. Tiff was probably less impressed to see him go past down the straights, Radical being quicker through the corners........I also recall a post by a seriously miffed M3 CSL owner :)

Dont get me wrong. I am no dissing Bill's motor. I have been at Silly speeds in an RS4 and bill was climbing in the boot. That is one fast car.
Im not here dobbing dirt I just am thinking myself I want more power and ins co will have my other arm if i were to mod so why not buy more power as stock?
Bill you know what i think of your car. Im not saying its a bad idea, if you can afford to insure the mods and the handling suits you.no probs.

That means a stnd Skyline and the vast majority of evo's/scoobs are out of the equation. That leaves the likes of the Rs4's, Tvr's, Noble, Porsches wont there insurance be quite heavy as well?.

I aint ever been up against an RS4 but i would have thought a RS4 would be left behind by IHI stage3 if the figures are anything to go by.

I thought Bill would see off Rs4's once rolling say 30-120mph. I heard they were being overtaken on some of the long straights on some tracks. But i could be wrong.

I can tell you that a Clip Cup 182 on slicks absolutely battered a stock-engined (380bhp) RS4 (with big brakes but road tyres) around every corner at Spa. Of course on the straights we left him for dead but eventually moved over as we were clearly holding him up.

Same scenario about 5 years ago, me in 200bhp Corrado with bent suspension & road tyres all over the back of a (claimed) 550bhp Skyline through every corner at Brands Hatch Indy. B@st@rd wouldn't let me past on the straights though.

A 4WD barge with 10K bhp will not make Joe Average a match for a well set up light car with 200bhp and a half decent pilot unless the track consists of straight lines only.

Thats my point Glenn. Power is nothing without handling
I personally dont think that a LCR has the handling characteristics to handle all that power

If we're just talking track cars here, then Caterfields are the way to go - 150bhp+ in ~600kgs, cornering pace that 4WD Jap wagons can only dream of with relatively dirt cheap running costs. Add in that you can park up without it being eyed-up or crowded around by chavs.

Personally i think that not alot can touch a 350bhp evo 5/6 on the road or track.Pure track days then catheram or elise/exige.luxury bruiser bmw m3/m5 or audi rs4/rs6.Skylines can be awesome with some tuning,i've seen them demolish rs4's and beat my mates suzuki gsxr1000.But for a 1.8t bill's car is awesome!

just out of interest i noticed a while back that bill's 0-120mph time was almost identical to a standard audi rs4.

REVO Mitchells well tweeked non std RS4 did'nt romp away form me last year @ Pistonheads :D
off the line.. yep.. I'm dead meat.
4WD is calling me these days.

FWD or RWD.... high power will still be a handfull and demand respect.
4WD for the best of both worlds if I was choosing a proper fast car personally.

I would have to have a non nannied electronic RWD car tho... too many gizmo's

It would be great fun.
Steering ont he throttle would be superb fun in a RWD car. :D

Aye we both remember the "Mitchell" incident at the ring..
That was anythjing but a std RS4, but was still passed and romped away by ikcle ibiza.

I know your not dissing me motor.. :)

For a sorted powerful car out of the box, then the beemers do look very tempting, but also do some 4WD motors. That EVO I had a ride in the other night was very refreshing... Well sorted std car. A car you could actually use the performance in.

You asked why scoobs and Evos are out well if u pay the insurance for the IHI variants of golfs Ibizas etc it wont be any worse than the insurance of certain Evos and scoobs. I had an insurance quote of £1300 fully comp on an Evo6 and this was the best quote. And an Evo6 falls well short in the performance stakes compared to an ihi'd ibiza. Skylines are ok but need another 100bhp min on top of stock due to there 1660kg weight. The best figures i have seen on stnd skylines vary from 305bhp to 320bhp. There never is an easy answer but this is normally down to financial restraints. If i won the lottery i could have a Enzo as my everyday track car. There are far better track cars than evo's and scoobs and skylines.

Maybe some form of Audi 4wd, Evos and scoobs are good at what they do. 4wd is the way forward for all weather all round performance but i always found there performance blunted after about 100mph. A well set up 450-500bhp Evo would be good as long as it had a sensible turbo choice on it.

come on guys lets get realistic, bills a very good driver clearly, but put him in a 350hp evo and i'm sure he would better the time that his ibiza does.

To be fair though Bill, yours is a race car in all but name.

It'd be interesting to see all the IHI'd cars on the same track day?

back then in this ring trip, RS4 example, ickle ibiza was just IHI'd with PSS9 suspension, and brembo's.. Not race car then.

Pseudo road car now tho.. LOL
