I am looking to do a smart install in my 52 LCR

I'm fitting components in all doors, new headunit, vibe subs and alpine amps.

Is it worth fitting new speaker cables from head unit/amp to speakers or is the standard wiring any good?

Standard wiring is no good if you're running speakers from an amp. you will need to run new cables from where ever you install the amp to the speakers. Standard speaker wires will go back to the ISO plug on the back of the HU so will not be able to be connected to an amp.

Pretty sure they are 16.5 cm but a search will reveal all i'm sure this has been asked a lot.

Imagine a home installation. Why don't you run a RCA cable from the back of the HU to the Alpine amp (but is it a mono block or 2/3/4 channel?), then from the amp run your 'top quality speaker wire' www.richersounds.com (under accessories/speaker essencials) for some goooood stuff, to the components in the front, if your not putting any speakers in the back, and keeping the existing ones for a while then bridge channels 3/4 on the amp, for the sub. But if you putting speakers in the back then, use channels 3/4 on the amp and buy a mono block for the sub.

This will bypass the crap speaker wire seat provide - ps don't forget to buy speaker spacers for the front or your window won't fully go down.

The Iceman has stripped his LCR more times than I've had hot dinners ;)

hahaha That might well be true:whistle:

I'm assuming you're not using the HU to power the speakers but TBH it doesn't matter, either way yes use some better speaker cable, the standard stuff isn't up to much.

I use silver coated speaker cable made by audision connections which I have to say is suberb and is very easy to work with.

Cheers everyone,

i will be running Alpine headunit (when got it) RCA's and Remote wire to
Alpine V12 (4 channel) amp and SPLX MFT900 (2 Channel) amp then
silver speaker wire to compo's in front and rear and from SPLX amp to
Twin Vibe SWR??? 12's.

Should be nice.
But how can I add a further set of 6x9'x in the parcel shelf cus I like the
Vibe Square ones?

Ok point taken

I'm dropping the 6x9 idea.

Any recommendations for compo's then?
I am an Alpine fan but may sway if better quality found (but dont think there will be)

yeah they are a lil too much better quality (shown in price)

Looking at Alpine type R or type S or the Infinity compos?????

I have infinity components (and sub) and have allways found the sound quality to be top notch.
I also mounted the midrange speakers on mdf spacer rings for better sound reproduction.
I run an Alpine head unit which is great, but the alpine monoblock V12 amp I used to use for the sub was pants!!!

Any pics of the speaker mounts mate?

I had a mate with infinity compo's and they were good I will admit.
Alpine are the daddy for headunits IMO

My V12 Amp is the dogs I love it and have had it for years.Been in 3 cars lol

Cant wait to get it sorted

Not got any pics of the mounts I'm afraid but they are simple to make out of 3/4" mdf or I believe you can buy them ready made.

Would recommend the auto acoustics stealthbox if you want to just use 1 sub and keep the boot!!!

I'll keep my eye out for the speaker mounts.
As for the sub i have the twin Vibe 12's. I am a propa bass junkie and they are the mutz nutz ino.

plus £399 in ripspeed but I got for £75.I ent argueing for S**T

sounds like my install im doing nextweek!!!! twin vibe 12 sub...apline types compos front and back and kenwood amps...only difference is im using a pioneer head unit until i can afford my avic x1r
