Taking the footrest plate modification to the next level. Seeing as my footrest design incorporates the text cut out of the plate I investigated the possibility of back lighting the text using LEDs.

I took out the plastic footrest and the plastic support plate (which is screwed to the body underneath the carpet)

I cut a hole in each of them (as well as the carpet) to allow the back lighting through.

Fitted a strip of Perspex with sandblasted vinyl over it to diffuse the light.

I used a strip of 3 LEDs which can be bought from any electronics store like Rabtron or Communica. I put the LEDs under the plastic mount, shining up through the holes that I cut. I connected the wiring to the interior light panel.

Running the wires up the car, along the A pillar and to the interior light housing

Interior light housing unclipped

Connect wires to the lighting plug of the housing (Positive to red wires and negative to the green wires)

Fitted the chrome footrest plate onto the plastic mount (using double sided tape).

Finished product.

This is possible to do on any of the footrest plates from me. I do make them for the Ibiza's as well!

Looks great but I think it needs to be balanced by the same colour lighting for the foot well itself. That will really set it off and enhance the stainless pedals

Thanks for the kind words.

Iv contemplated the footwell lights, will test it out and see.

The interior lighting is all white LED so when the doors are open the footwells are pretty well illuminated by that lighting.

even if you just add one out of sight in the opposite corner of the footwell I think it will improve the look without taking anything away from the Cupra light. Its all about symmetry
