Update from Seat CS... "You need to take it to a dealer to have a look at" :/ Weeks of waiting for them and this is the best they could come up with. Useless.

So to sum up:

Seat CS case ST201412003559. Car taken to garage 4 times, the last visit for a week. Problem happening all the time in the winter for me but the garage (Milton Keynes "Lancaster" Seat) claim they have never seen the issue.

Seat are useless.

Yep. Mine still isn't fixed either. It was in again last week, and they tried telling me it was a loose connection on the headlight unit this time.

Yeah... Of course it is mate. Jokers.
Needless to say, it still doesn't work.
And then they had the cheek to give the car back damaged again too.

Seat dealerships are the absolute worst.

I must be getting grumpy in my old age... I even did a full on Victor Meldrew impression when I spotted the damage.

"I DON'T BELIEEEEEEEVE IT!!!!"

I wouldn't trust them to screw in a lightbulb, so I'm not surprised they can't fix an LED headlight unit.

My case has been escalated at Seat CS. The floor around my pram is building up with a thick layer of thrown toys.

I've had so many cases opened, escalated, closed, then reopened again, I've lost count. SUK are just as useless as the dealers. It's a futile exercise trying to communicate with either one of them and getting any sort of satisfactory result.

Why does someone with this fault not take it to Auto Express, as once in the mag the publicity soon gets companies sorting it out, going by the cases I read every week.

That's my next thing to do, if Seat CS fail to get it sorted I'll youtube it and forward the link to as many motoring mags as I can.

Seat CS tell me that the factory have accepted that there is a problem with a number of vehicles and are looking for a solution. I'll get bi-weekly updates until it's resolved. All dealers should receive a notification of the issue and the lack of fix for now to collect details of affected customers.

Thanks for letting us know appreciated.

About time they did something about it, especially as its a safety issue. SEAT dont do themselves any favours do they.

I would escalate any consumer issues with Trading Standards.

As the last resort I used to write a letter to the company I had issues with where I told them that if they don't sort out the issue within X weeks I shall seek legal advice from Trading Standards.

Usually they are scared by the Trading Standards.

Not sure how independent the media is... but BBC Watchdog is another opportunity for escalation.

This worked a few years back, when quite a few mk1 TT owners were getting fuel gauge (dashpod) problems. Audi did an about-turn :D

I don't understand why Seat doesn't take it seriously. It is illegal to drive if the car would fail an MOT at any given time.

Fortunately I don't have the issue. Perhaps all affected should join a Facebook group and then contact BBC Watchdog.

or take it to WHICH Magazine, Consumers Association?

Just reading in the March issue about a couple getting fobbed off from Kia about faults with the drivers seat in their new Sorento, that dragged on and were not fixed satisfactorly. After Which got involved, they (using the sale of goods act 1979) got the seat replaced with a new one and £200 compensation, for the inconvienience caused.

Not just Seat, I'm currently sat in VW dealers for the third time today. After having major repairs on front of car following pheasant related damage, I get car back this morning ( they've had it all week) and..... Have to come back because low coolant warning light came on - they had changed radiator - get car back a second time..... Drive for a while ..... Air con not working. - air con condenser replaced as part of above work - so back I come again. Not happy [:@]

Bring back the days when the guys in the service department were actual mechanics! All the skill has gone from main dealers nowadays. Everything's just... Sloppy.
