Looking for help.

I bought my car a couple of weeks ago and keyfob has never worked.

I have tried to program it with VCDS with no luck, took it to garage today, they could not get it to code either!.

So i`m looking to buy a new remote fob, pref a flip key buy would settle to the round 2 button like i have now if needed.

My question is can i just buy and vag group flip key? and is it 433mhz?

Any help appreciated!

Daz

Yes in short, I have just done the same and got two fobs posted from China for £21 the only problem I had was no one wanted to cut the blades so my own opinion would be buy a Chinese fob from eBay, then also on eBay are people that can cut your key from a picture you send them it'll just be a replacement blank for the fob, if you can't be bothered with all the messing about then you could just get a pre done coded key from UK but be expected to pay a bit for one, oh and if your thinking of doing it you need to be able to extract the SKC from cluster or ecu to program new transponders through VCDS, I think it's cost me about £50 to have two flip button keys done for me but I did all the programming which is usually most the cost of a new set of keys.

To put you in the picture I got quoted £110 for a 2 button flip key all programmed from a market stall.

i have full vcds, and i have seen some keys on ebay. but never know which one i need. (2003 leon cupra 1.8t) as i cant see a part number on the fob i have.

would be nice to have a flip key :)

Full VCDS won't get you the SKC you need other programs for it, it's all there to be found but I won't post it on here, I think the MHz is the key and iirc mine is a 04 plate and uses the 433MHz there's a thread somewhere where they even use the 434MHz and it still works but I haven't tried that.

Oh and once you have the SKC you can then use full VCDS to program the transponder and fob :)
