Not been home all weekend to get the software loaded on my laptop - but it's my intention to do this tonight. Will post feedback asap.

Mine ordered 12th, dispatched 14th and now on parcelforce tracking page as "progressing through our delivery network"

Hopefully tomorrow

Well, tried it out, not having much luck. Installed the software, hooked it up to the car+laptop, usb driver said it detected the cable. Vag com told me to do a test, but says can't find the ross tech usb device not detected. Unplugged and replugged, now I get USB device has malfunctioned. Tried it on 2 laptops (windows 7, windows vista) and on my pc (windows xp) and get the same thing. Looks like I got a duff cable, or plugging it in to the car has damaged it somehow :(
Anyway emailed support at bestoffer to see if they can advise or replace the cable. Grrr.

Yeah, where you connected to the internet?
From what ive read, vag.com sends data to ross-tech.com, to check if the cable is genuine or not. If its not genuine, it will lock out your cable.

Thats all ive heard, so not 100%.

I made sure I edited my hosts file, so that ross-tech.com wasn't contactable... but maybe it already contacted before I locked down my laptop. Damn.

Bit of an update.

Bought the 812.4 cable on this thread, was unable to get it to work with the software provided 812.4.
So i got the software from the site talked about and works ok.

Just edit your hosts files, turn internet off and block in your firewall.

Load software and usb drivers. Plug your cable inro your car first, wait 30sec or so, then plug into your usb port in your laptop. Should detect cable, run the software and test the cable in options.

Oh use runadate or change system time so software does not warn you its out of date. (set to 1/4/2007)

Been able to do coming home / leaving home lights. Also do some logs on MAF and boost pressure. Also checked DPF level

digital-kaos forums has some good info on cables and software

Re: Leon 1P Vag-Com cable

Mine just arrived today is it worth me using the supplied disc or do i need to download a different version?

Also do i need to change the host file before or after plugging in or installing software?

Tried to edit the host file as per post #57 but will not let me save it.

Any ideas what i'm doing wrong?

If your on Windows Vista or Windows 7 you need to right click run as administrator on the batch file, or if your editing directly open notepad as administrator then edit the host file :)

i too have changed it but i can still access the website, i assume it just stops the program from accessing it.

All you have to do is to navigate to the file, open it in notepad, make the change and then click save
