Hello,
I just joined as I’m looking for some help.
i‘m going to change the oil and oil filter on my 2015 2.0 tdi soon.
l’ve managed to get the under tray off and it looks like it’s going to be a bit messy taking the filter cap off.
I did notice a small hex inside the 32mm hex, (looks about 13mm) and am wondering if that is a drain screw for the filter cap.
looked at some YouTube videos but can’t see any that dont just unscrew the cap, spilling oil at the same time.
Thanks. (Used a google image as I forgot to take a photo).

Yes, the small o-ring is for the small plastic drain bolt, the large one for the filter housing. Use some new oil to lube both o-rings before fitting. Make sure all mating parts are spotless.
Thanks.

I did it yesterday and did lube the o-rings with new oil etc 👍🏻

Must rate as one of the worst oil and filter changes I’ve done, due to the Leon being low and having to jack it up and even with the drain bolt on the filter cap, the oil didn‘t really just flow down into the tray it splashed down and luckily I can’t afford block paving on the drive just old chuckie stones.

l have been spoiled for the last 10 years with 1.9 Golfs, same type of filter and housing, but easily accessed from the top and facing upwards.

Think I’ll be changing the oil and filter every 8k miles, 10k seems a bit much for such thin oil.

The other shiteness about that little drain plug is that it's soft plastic and easy to round. Then you've got no choice but to remove the big cover and it's messaroony!

Its just a 13mm - though mine has seized and rounded so suspect yours has had a similar fate which makes the socket a tight fit - best to use a 6 sized 13mm as it's only plastic.
I have to just remove the whole cap (32mm socket) and deal with the spillage! Even with the cap in a vice I can't remove the centre screw so I will get a replacement cap next oil change.
