Hi guys

I brought a lookalike oem arm rest of ebay a while back this was when i had the ordinary sports cloth interior. I have since then fitted full electric leather lcr seats.

I found that the centre arm rest sits slightly closer to the drivers seatt, and when i move the leather seat it rubs on the arm rest.

Just wondered if anyone had a genuine seat one with a leather interior or even a recardo interior with an arm rest fitted???

I wonder if i take the mounting off and slightly space the drivers side up a tad to move it away from the seat. Anyone else had simular problems?? or i;m just very picky!

not had a prob with mine being closer to my seat than passengers but i can tell you now that the copy ones of ebay are crap....well the bracket that bolts to the car is.... its very very weak..
dont wait for it to break get a proper one from the stealers...about £40.
mine broke in 3 places after about 2 months in the car.

i'd check to make sure its not cracked

seem to recall a hell of alot for what it is...don't quote me but seem to recall about £150/£200 for everything.
every poxy nut and bolt is extra.
you think arm rest and bracket...no no no main bit, lid, clip, bracket bolts.....etc etc etc list goes on.. got mine of fleabay was told oem but ended up a copy thats why my bracket snapped.

i would try the packing out bracket see what that does...its just dam fiddly

all sorted!

i put a m8 penny washer under the two drivers bolts, seems to have lined it up in the middle of the seats perfect!

lesson to learn never leave the torque bits in the seat runner, blew a fuse in the electric seat relay, glad i fitted fuse's :)

Did you replace the bolt on the passenger side (the one that holds down the handbrake) with the double ended bolt from VW? If not then that could be why your armrest was lying to one side...

The armrest i got from ebay only came with two bolts that i could use to fit it so the third bolt from VW holds down the handbrake and gives you a thread above it to then place your new bracket over. It holds the armrest more securely and in a better position. There is a thread about it somewhere...

Hope that makes sense

hey dude yer i already have that third bolt, all three bolts are in but it slightly sat to the drivers seat. Did buy it off ebay after all, 30 quid if i remember, was a deal on with the seller at the time.

Anyone with a genuine seat one?? Would you be able to give a quick dimension of the width of widest part. ( area where the side panel pops of :) )

is there an actual step by step guide to this anywhere with pics...iv seen the mk4 golf ones but any for the leon?

i did find one for a leon but it has disappeared off the net., and like you can only find one for a golf, but its the same thing....except the cutting out of coin tray.

I bought my genuine arm rest from a Seat dealer in Belgium (on ebay) as it was cheaper, even with postage :)

Fitting it was easy enough, except the first attempt, I cut out the bottom of the coin tray. When I fitted the arm rest it didn't sit straight. I took it back off and cut around the top of the coin tray. I re-fitted the arm rest and it went on perfect, level & square with an equal gap (about 3/4") between the seats. I have the Recaro's by the way... move the seats back & forward, lift the arm rest up & down, no rubbing at all, same 3/4" gap. :)

The arm rest will be the same size whether it's leather or cloth, so the gap / clearance will be the same. If it's a genuine Seat or VW arm rest you shouldn't have any rubbing / squeaking at all.

Is it fitted correctly? Level & straight?

(the guide in the link I posted earlier was done with a leather arm rest & leather seats)
