Hello all,

Currently have a 6L 2008 ibiza sport 1.4 100bhp. Get round 42mpg on average.

Want something faster.

I had a leon 1.6SR mk1 before and loved the car just averaged 36mpg which annoyed me for how slow it was hence the ibiza sport.

Time for a change and looking at another leon mk1

Cupra styling doesn't thrill me much, the FR is a possibility with the 1.8 20v T engine.

The R is spot on what i want from power and looks.

I do A roads and a little M roads to get 42mpg.

What do you average in a cupra or cupra R and what roads are you doing?

Thanks,

Mark

Thanks guys,

I drive steady on the way to work and like a granny on the way back for good mpg as I'm that tight.
Wash once a week without fail and garage every night as I'm also that sad.

On the weekends is a different story. Enjoy driving and cornering those country bends.

The wife's corsa 1.2 is for the town and family visit driving.

If i can average 35mpg doing A roads its a definite.

In the two and half years I've owned mine, I've always averaged around 31mpg on the 100 hour trip memory (it resets after that amount of drive time). You can get less than 10 giving it a boot full or near 40 if you drive normally. The highest I've ever seen out if mine was 37.5mpg after a 20 mile A road trip on 40 and 50 mph roads.

Edit: seeing your criteria for 35mpg on an A road, I do the aforementioned drive everyday and routinely get 35+. Get an LCR!

They can be quite pricey to maintain properly though. I've spent rather a lot on mine keeping it in good nick.

I get 38mpg on my trip to work. 9 miles doing speed limits 6 miles of which is dual carriageway.

I get 380-415 miles out of a tank in my Cupra which does involve possibly 10 miles of spirited driving.

I got 450-470 miles in my 1.6 s Leon with no spirited driving - exact same trips.

Mine's crap really. A road 8 miles drive to work I get about 30mpg. Motorway can get around 35mpg at 70mph, or up to about 39 doing 55-60.

Not as good as I thought it was going to be compared to my MK4 Ibiza Cupra which was running 240bhp.

I tend to average 350 miles to a tank which is generally about 29MPG (£65 to fill).

I don't really put my foot down either though often that's because there's traffic and commuting somewhere

I do 70 miles a day so got the pd150, if I did a 45-50 mile commute it doesn't look like there'd be much difference with petrol being almost 10p per l cheaper than diesel. Still tempted to try for an exchange with an R but think it'd end up just too much of an impact to my wages running it.

Fuel could be an issue for me as well soon, could be looking at 100 miles per day. Not selling the car though. Will either go lpg or buy a cheapish diesel.

Man I need a remap. Stuck on my induction kit and mpg dropped from around 38 on motorway to around 32. My AFR must be well off

I am currently doing a 150 mile per day round trip. 15% A road 85% M way.

Getting 400-420 on a tank. 40 mpg on each trip no problem at all. Computer says age 37 mpg.

To my advantage also m6 road works, so I am forced into a straight 15 miles at 50 mph which lifts the mpg up to and beyond 40 mpg.

Have also managed 43 mpg on a 75 mile home run.

Stage 2 LCR:

Best over a tank - 399 Miles - 32.33mpg
Worst over a tank - 262 Miles - 21.42mpg

Average over 14,134 Miles - 27.22mpg - That's £3430.56 on 2,417.54 litres of fuel

Take an average of 23.7p per mile - should help you calculate what yours will cost to run.

I do a combination of driving, very short journey daily to work, plus a few longer motorway journeys through the week. On a long motorway journey the trip mpg can come up to 40+ mpg, with cruise control between 60-70mph but it would be unrealistic to achieve that as an average, the details above should give an idea of what it's actually like to live with.

Fuel economy doesn't appear to have been affected by any stage of tune from standard to Stage 2

John that was very detailed thanks for that. Id be sorting a stage 1.

Seen an FR 1.8 near by 2005 I'm liking. Would love an R but finding one with the right mileage and maintenance is hard work. May have to wait a few months for one to pop up near by

Thanks everyone
