Hey all,

Just recently people have commented that my car appears to be smoking, which I'm sure I've not noticed before, nor has anyone commented on it.

I did notice it on an RR day recently, but was only a very small amount. After a 30 mile drive, the car was switched off for about an hour, and then I started it up, drove a few hundred yards and had to sit idling for about 5 mins. During this 5 mins, I did notice quite a bit of smoke in my mirrors/back window. That said, it was a bit damp/cold out so could just have been normal.

Anyway - someone mentioned blue smoke. Not sure I believe this, but if it was to be true what should I be looking at??? I'm led to believe blue smoke is bad and is turbo related, but if it is normal white smoke???

I will try and get a closer look myself soon, but it's a bit hard when I'm behind the wheel.

By the way, the car has done 95k miles now, and has been remapped/modified since about 40k.

Thanks

Unless the turbo is making some strange fluttering noises pabs id not worry bout it, its getting colder at the moment so it could be simply your emissions being more noticeable due to the hot gases hitting cold air.
When my turbo was on its way out you knew it was bad smoke as opposed to cold driving.

Do you always use the same petrol?
Just thought if you just started to use say V Power it might be cleaning out your engine and dumping it oot the back
You using more oil than usual?
Hope you get it sorted mate
You get a new house yet?
Not seen you on here for a while

Blue Smoke is sign of burning oil.

Have you changed your oil recently ? If so is it slightly overfilled ?

White smoke is nothing to really worry about, especially in this weather but when up to temperature it's sign of burning coolant (steam more than white smoke :) )

that's all reassuring - thanks guys. With other cars I read that blue smoke is something to do with stem seals or something, and I know it's never good.
Would appear that mine puts out white smoke upon start up, and when idling, but I don't notice it otherwise.

Oil was changed at it's 100k service recently - haven't actually had time/remembered to check the oil level.

And I don't think it's related, but I had to fill up with 95 ron 4 days ago - although i noticed the smoke before I filled up. Usually using at least Super-Unleaded.

Thanks for the comments guys - car still runs really well IMO - putting out the usual 210-220bhp on the RR recently :)
