Focus RS :)

If you need it to be practical, good at covering loads of miles, comfortable and well sound deadened whilst still being fast and driving well, get the LCR.

If you want it to be rare, a loon to drive, better at track-focused handling and much more raw and driver focused, get the RS.

If you're a middle-manager who works in a bank and wears too much pink.... buy a Civic ;)

both great cars,i have a lcr and love it,friend of mine has rs like that to,similar performance when both std, both can be highly tuned.diff in the rs is agressive pulls it about on road, handles better than std lcr,rs is more raw if you now what i mean than a std lcr,ie sound and handling,rs s have held there value as they were limited in numbers,i prefer my lcr thats why i have one,if you like fords go for the focus.one of those where lcr owners will give reasons why there cars better and ford owners will say there cars better, imo vag cars are classier, its up to you all down to personal taste.

18 months ago i would've said focus RS as i was well into my fords. but i always had a healthy respect for the LCR and when the time came to get rid of my old mondeo i was hooked............... the test drive left my smiling, the turbo glowing and the dealer with a deposit! i never considered a RS due to the limited numbers meaning high prices for a similar car to the LCR, it was going to be a daily driver so had to have quite good road manners. and if i'm honest the LCR looks better or should i say it looks classier. i prefer the interior on the leon as the focus looks a bit garish. i'd have one as a second car if money was to ever grow on trees as they look good and are rapid but i don't think as a normal road car it has what i'm after whereas my leon does. me, my missus and little'un can go for long stress free journeys without feeling achey and knackered at the other end and i don't think that would be the case in the ford.

front diff, good handling makes the focus rs a better boyracer car.
if you dont have a family then get the focus RS for some jaw breaking brutal action otherwise get a LCR.
the LCR is an all rounder.
look at this link for the RS http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gYy-qc6l2L8

For me it would be the Focus. To start off with they ARE rare. They are more focused ( pardon the pun) than the Leon, maybe a little too focused for some, with crap ride quality and very exepnsive service costs ( ie brakes cost 500 quid for front discs and pads) even down tot he fact that the test drivers saw fit to go back to a 5-speed box instead of 6 speed like the ST170. All about the drive. But it is a proper RS, its not like the ST built for the masses but a much more perfomance orientated car. Great seats if you are ok with the garish colour and yes the steerign wheel can be changed easily and cheapily. The ATB diff is actually very good and the stupid stories of crap torque steer etc are greatly overated, even EVo mag recently confessed they may have been wrong about the RS first time round. Very tunable engine, very solid.

Also residuals are very good, and the ST really has not hit them as hard as most thought, in fact some dealers have Focus ST's up at the same price as a Focus RS. If i could have stretched to one i would have had one over the Mini, but that extra 3k was just a little too far for me. Oh and don't forgt the Focus RS was actually a £28k car but Ford sold em for 20k and lost 8-9k on every car they sold. This was the main reson for the cancelation of the forthcoming new shape Focus RS. shame

Focus go for it.
