just the 6000 the cut from the 3000 will be too much for what i need,

traditionally they velcro onto a foam interface pad, the pads are about £10 and then a box of 15 trizact discs are £70.00 lol so not cheap,

to do a car like mine with oe paint you'll use 2-3 discs, were it freshly painted then one disc would do.

this will be followed by the 3m perfect it range

Jake you can detail my car with those pads if you want, i wash and wax mine when i can + have clayed it but its crying out for a going over with a machine polisher..

i dont think my arms are strong enough to buff out the swirls in my paint work, sunny days means i can see all the marks in my black magic paint work.

i recon im going to have to get it detailed @ some point to remove all the swirls...sob sob...

Thought yours was grey

no black magic, think the paint code is LC9Z...

i love the colour ( espically since i've started adding little bits of Gloss black 4D carbon wrap here and there ) it sparkles in the sun, but as i mentioned also shows up all the paint work marks...

I've considered getting polishing tool, but you need lots of practise and with 5 kids i dont have the time...

That was my anni after I'd finished with it. You are correct lc9z is black magic. There are around 15 variations in that colour now lol but it is stunning. I'd of liked a black one myself.

On good news I've just won a genuine arm rest on ebay

well,

yesterday i touched all my chips in with 2k paint, today i decided to denib them with 2000 paper,

then i decided i may aswell do the lot,

so test panel for smoothing out the orange peel was the wing,

first i cleaned it and then blocked followed by had flatted with wet 2000 paper.

after that i wiped down and hit it with 3000 trizact on a da, followed by a 6000 trizact on da

this gives a semi gloss finish

after that its the usual 3m fast cut process and a wax, this gives a really good refined and smooth finish

so into the car, same process cleaned, degreased, de tared etc

the car was blocked with 2000 wet, then washed
hand flatted with 2000 wet , then washed
3000 trizact with da , then washed
6000 trizact with da, then finally washed

i went over the full car giving me this.....

Some seem worse than others. We had a 2010 Leon in today in white which wasn't as bad.

German cars seem to be quite bad for it right now.

I wouldn't do this process to the mk6 golf as there super thin in terms of clear coat.

Another example of the amazing work that you do Jake. Been an admirer of your work for a long time. Looking forward to seeing the car in summer mode :) Are you still enjoying the car?
