I have a warranty direct policy and am very pleased with the service. My first year I got 16mths and got the max policy that covers, the turbot, AC, ABS, Electronics.

My renewal was £220 for a year.

I did it online and then they rang and got it down from £265 to £225 on the phone for the gold iirc. Renewal is cheaper. Remember I am running a standard TDi 110 so would expect the Cupra R to be higher tbh

dealer rates to £42.30 per hr covered...

Luckily I haven’t had to pay for any thing recently, but I'm pretty sure you won’t find any dealers that only charge £42.30 per hour, (or am I out of touch with reality?).

Does that cover the turbo and associated bits? What doesn't it cover?

Covers as much as I could check incl ABS, Air Con/Climate Control & Turbo. Does cover the clutch as in "Release thrust bearing, centre plate (oil cont only), pressure plate, master and slave cylinders, clutch cable inclu self adjusting mech and clutch damper.

There's also a section that states "No claim will be rejected on the grounds of wear and tear where the insured vehicle has covered less than 60,000 miles or is under 5 years old at the time of the claim" - make of that what you want, but I suppose common sense will apply...

As too main dealer rates, no I dont expect main dealers will cover £42 an hour - they have a "nationwide network of nominated repairers".

I think I originally got the RAC WArranty details from a SEAT dealer that used to be a Rover dealer as well. Im sure they said at the time new Rover owners were buying this policy when Rover went bust, and they had no problems doing work under the warranty.

Of course, I havent had to make any claims yet (hopefully not) so that will dictate whether this is worthwhile or not.

I've got RAC gold too. Covers clutch and turbo which is nice.

My claim limit is different from quoted here though. £1000 per claim.

I got 2 years for about £20 per month. Runs out in August, I've never made a claim although I think my clutch may be on its way out.

You MUST keep your service history up to date though, but it can be done on manufacturers intervals but does not need to be done at a main dealer. Vagtech do mine.

AA do a good warranty, covers a lot on the car, but only if it becomes undrivable. Its cheap at about 80 a year.

you pay for what you get
