Leon fr 150 clutch pedal

Hi

I posted on here a while ago about setting off jerky and most said i need to wear clutch and gearbox in

Car now done 1250 mile and still got issues
The clutch doesn't feel like it's going down smoothly and you can actually hear a creaking noise when depressing
So when lifting to set you can feel clutch creaking under foot and hard to set off cleanly
It's worse in queueing, stop start traffic
Is this normal or should I get it looked at?

SO trying to get my car booked into dealer local to me and 4 of them all have 4 week lead time to even get in!!

Didn't want to run about with potential issue with clutch and make it worse so was advised to ring Seat recovery
They came to look and couldn't find anything visual but did say it could be something in the clutch like a dual mass fly wheel issue or spring as it only happens when warm

What bugs me is when you ring dealer and mention this they tar you with same brush and say it's probably wear and tear and i have to authorise a £300 labour cost just to strip it down!
The attitude at the three dealers near me stinks!

So customer service now know of the issue but i still have to wait 3 weeks to get it in at the dealer i originally sourced from an hour and half away from me

A friend of mine has a issue on his 184 with the clutch, pressing down on pedal feels fine and no creeking etc, it's when you let the clutch out at a fast pace it's has a sticking feel rather than coming up fast and smooth!

Think the whole vw range has that issue on certain year?
Somet to do with pedal itself?

He's still driving his hasn't got worse or better, you don't notice it really on normal driving, just when you let the clutch out fast

Mine does exactly the same! I'm trying to figure out what it is. One garage said to try changing the master cylinder first but maybe it's a pedal problem if others have similar problems.

Leon 150 or 184? The car is driving 100%, I reckon it's air in the cylinder, he's taking it to the dealer soon to see so will keep you posted

Its 198hp - FR petrol. The brakes were all done before I got it, wonder if it wasn't bled properly and got air in. I had mine checked and it's apparently not leaking, they said to try the master cylinder first and then if no improvement clutch and slave cylinder.

Could be a thing on some Leon's clutch pedals both diesel and petrol! How many miles is on your car? 11k just turned on his.

Mine's a mk2 and got 73k on the clock - only done 1700 miles myself so God knows how many miles it's done it for.

I've got a similar symptom on a mk3 150 TDi, when pressing the pedal down it goes smooth but on lifting it you can feel a slight resistance about half way up the pedal. It seems to come and go depending how I put my foot on the pedal.

I've 28000 on the clock. It's not creaking or anything and the car drives fine. I had just put it down to how the car is but I'll keep an eye on it see how it goes.

Mine was from new and noticed around 400 miles or so

I could be talking absolute ballocks here, but I think that it is a common issue across the VAG marques that shows up worst on the more powerful versions as the clutches will be heavier duty. My 2011 Audi S4 has had this and it was resolved by the dealer using a lubricant on pivot points etc. If that had failed to give a good result, the next step was to be replacing some of the clutch pedal mechanism and that includes changing the geometry of some of the parts, if that did not work next is the master and slave cylinders which luckily on the S4 the slave cylinder is external to the bellhousing. At its least offensive, it seems to be due to the plastics/nylon sleeves and pivots which seem to get fitted without any lubrication, I'm thinking that when wear takes place, these parts are already marked/grooved so lubrication will only last so long.

Edit:- in one case, the clutch pedal of an Audi S4 dropped to the floor (in rural France - nice!) and that meant replacing quite a lot of bits that ended up getting broken.

That's a good shout as I was thinking along those lines, clutch is working 100%, no slippage or short travel on the pedal, rattles etc, just a slight hesitation on the way out about half way back from the floor
