Yeah makes me sick
I'm not the only one on the new build estate to have been done over
Some guy had his Golf GTD taken
It only had 35 miles on clock!!

On some ways I wish it had been my car that was taken
Atleast my clutch issue woudve been sorted!

I now have my own car back from a 2 week stint at the dealers
They have advised after stripping clutch they found faulty bearings and have replaced them
On initial driving it does seem better but will know next week after stop start journey to work

Some positive news on this and the stolen loan car
Seat have agreed to pay the full £500 excess as a good will gesture due to the amount of time and length of time my new car has spent at the dealer

Yeah was quite surprised to get all of it!
The car seems better. No Creaking or Notchyness
But needs testing by me i guess

They say they have changed bearings in clutch but i just hope they haven't lubed it for an easy fix!

After having my car back for over a week now it has started to have issues again!
More notchyness and squeaks now so still not fixed

I am now on talks with the dealer for a replacement new car
The only issue is now I lose front parking sensors and optical display as not in FR as standard now
Also The 0% finance deal has ended and is now 4.9%
Worried now it's gonna cost me more money for less of a car

Surely if they are replacing the car because it its faulty, the replacement should be like for like, including price. That is what I would expect and demand.

You paid for a car of that spec that worked correctly, if it doesn't, then you shouldn't be worse off because they supplied a faulty car they can't fix.

Unfortunately the dealer doesn't see it that way as they don't want to lose money
The new FR front sensors and optical display comes as an optional extra with reverse camera now
This obviously isn't gonna be cheap

Been fighting this from when car was new 5 month ago
Seat Customers services ain't interested. They Are seeking a repair which after 3 failed attempts I don't want and the dealer has agreed it isn't the best route

Just means the customer loses out again as always where cars are concerned

A really positive resolution to my problem after 7 weeks of my case with Seat and clutch issue
All parties agreed that going down the fix route for the 4th time wasn't the best

Seat agreed to replace my car 3 week ago but the problem was I couldn't get a manual as none in country like for like and 7 month lead on new build!
Didn't wanna wait that long and drive faulty car for what would be over a year

The only car in country that matched mine was a DSG model
The snag there was its a lot more expensive and has the convenient pack and seat full link so I've been waiting all this time to see if they would put the extra in to get me in that car
The extra is £3200 which means I wouldn't need a new deposit and pays for DSG and extras

Today I had the news that seat UK and seat finance are going 50/50 on this and are stumping up for me to get the brand new DSG!
Has taken a lot of fight my side but it's now been well worth it
Just need to get used to driving DSG

Holy crap Hughsey, I've been away from here for a bit - seems like you've had a bit of a journey!

DSGs are cool, my mum's got a DSG 1.4 ACT Golf, it's brilliant. No pedals to squeak, and you can crawl in traffic without your left leg getting worn out. The DSG + Stop/Start is a bit of a pain, as is the DSG+Auto-Hold (I normally turn auto-hold off in the Golf) - the hold particularly can result in you having to postively press the throttle to creep forward / backward in order to get the hold system to release.

My next Leon will deffo be a DSG, not just to avoid the squeaky clutch pedal but more because it's just a more comfortable way of driving around. :)

I think your experience does go to show just how hit and miss dealers can be, particularly with fault diagnosis.

Ever so slightly jealous of your incoming DSG now ;)

Hey Bubbs

It's definitely been a long road but TBH the once the dealer knew about the new law of one fix attempt or replace, they have put my case across to Seat with my best interests
VW finance were great from the start as they had no issues contributing from day one

I have to say SEAT UK are a bunch on nobs and it's them that were dragging it out for the 8 weeks and to cap it all off the head of SEAT UK didn't even know about the new law change!

I'm looking forward to the DSG as the threads i have read are very positive and will suit my daily drive, although there is confusion with the type of gearbox installed as to whether it's a wet/dry one and servicing routines?

I pick my new DSG up this Saturday :)

I've got some TPI codes now :)

I had my own struggles with SEAT UK about one of their dealers last year, eventually they resolved the problem for me but it took way longer than it should have done. Trouble is most of the people you speak to aren't that interested / clued up on what it is that they are there for.

A bit like salesmen who know nothing about the cars they're selling I guess.

No idea on the nature of the DSG box, all I know is that my parents had a 1.4 Polo with one, and it was rubbish - but they've since had 2 Golfs (63 diesel and their current 65 1.4 ACT one) and the 'boxes in those are great things. In theory it should be as simple as a point and squirt type affair, and when it comes to servicing the SEAT master service computer* should tell everyone what to do and when.

*don't think this actually exists :p

Hopefully the new car is all up to scratch! :)

On another note - I've just found the description of fault, fix and TPI references for the squeak that I had:

From my service report:

"Found noises from clutch pedal when depressed, heard using stethoscope, coming from top of pedal pivot bearing. Checked TPIs - Found Relevant TPI Code 2035990/2 - Requires removal of pedal and modifications per TPI"

So there's the TPI number, and the 'fix' report said this:

"Replaced clutch pedal pivot bearing and top cap per TPI 2035990/2".

So if anyone else is suffering with the same weird squeaky/creaky noise from their pedal per my other post in this thread, then that TPI number might hold the key to a fix.

I did try to make 3 different dealers aware of a TPI code but all said none existed!
Clearly there is one but too late for me now and has cost Seat quite a bit more than a pedal/pivot replacement!

Hope others get theirs sorted without the mess i had to go through

I've been away from the forum for a while, and last year I posted a thread and video of my pedal creaking (usually after lots of stop start traffic) on my FR 1.4 150. I took it in to the dealers, they confirmed it was there and lubricated some pivots on the clutch but the problem remained. Both the dealer and Seat UK fobbed me off saying that there was nothing mechanically wrong or affecting the operation of the car.

That was last year and having since covered 15000 miles the problem is still here. I'm going to go back armed with this TPI which must have come out since I took it in last year and if it works I'm buying you a beer Bubbs!

For reference here is the video detailing the problem with my clutch. I'd be interested to know if anyone else has exactly the same problem:

That creak sounds v similar to the one I had Tom, so hopefully the cause is the same.

Mine was first 'fixed' in October 2014 (pedal bushing replacement), and that made no difference. The final fix came last year in October 2015, and took a couple of days. It's a lower-dashboard-out job so not a quick repair.

I don't know if dealers share technical info between themselves (I bet not) but Caffyns Tunbridge Wells were the guys / gals who came up with the final fix. :)

Mine only happens after the car has warmed up and I've used the clutch a bit, such as in traffic. It must be a heat expansion issue, was yours happening in the same way?

Mine was the reverse of that. Very creaky when the ambient temperature was below 15'C or so. But on a warm day it didn't really make much of a peep.

It made no difference if the engine was warm or cold, or if the heater was on - although I never really had it on HI or anything like that. Basically, in winter, it'd creak all day, in spring/Autumn, it'd creak, but only if the car hadn't been sitting in the sun all day (thus raising the interior temp). And in summer, it'd be quiet.

I'm sat in the car now, and whilst the pedal still isn't silky smooth, it doesn't make any noise, and hasn't done ever since Caffyns had it.

Mine was exactly same as urs
Very annoying and hard to control clutch in traffic
One dealer said it was normal and couldn't see a problem

Hope you have luck with tpi code but my experience is the dealers don't share the info
Like bubbs says it may take a few dealers to get one that recognise there's actually an issue
My shiny new dsg don't have the issue
