Leon FR 170 DSG Autumn 2008

Had my 30k service today and was told by a chap i know at Droitwich Seat that the DSG box would be available sometime late 2008/early 2009. He's a decent 50 something bloke he loves Seat and was bang on about the new black grill & cupra styling (old now i know) long before i saw it anywhere else, so i've no reason to dis-believe him.

He understands that VW/Audi have ''allowed'' Seat to produce this car. Not sure of cost but it will be certainly the most expensive Leon on the pricelist.

He also said there are no plans to release an upgraded Cupra. The Cupra is the Cupra, no extra bhp, no extra styling. Which i know alot of folk have asked about

My daughter has been told the DSG is going in the Leon FR too (her and her boyfriend are after one)

Would there be any merit in SEAT releasing a Cupra with extra styling?

For the people who want extra styling there are plenty of dealer fit accessories available.

I dont know what the changes to cupra are exactly, but there will be changes soon. There was a recent bulletin saying keep an eye out for a bulletin on cupra changes shortly. From what I have heard it will be bodykit. Also, new cupra orders are currently on hold (not sure if this is due to the changes)

I may find out more on Thursday.

New Cupra orders aint on hold as such - you can only get them via factory build and have to wait. Seat will start building them 2nd week of January 2008 again, exactly the same as the old ones...

Well I have ordered one for my January quota and have been told that cupra oders cannot be raised on the factory for a while, but I will be informed when there is a commision number!

Cupra changes have been announced and are as follows:

Xenons are now a £600ish option, and Cupra can now be ordered with the aero bodykit for £20495 or standard (minus the Xenons) for £19295ish (can't remember the exact amounts)

Also, the Cupra wheels can be ordered in white or black.

Quick question........
is DSG in the petrol FR in the UK at the mo....

i just moved to Dubai and test drove a 2lt 200bhp leon FR with DSG paddle shift and it was totally awesome....unfortunately the Cupra doesnt come in DSG and auto is a must have out here with the bad traffic.
it was almost fully loaded...ESP had a sunroof etc..??? didnt have sat nav (mind you the roads are dia and constantly changing)......
the other bummer is that no diesel range is available! GDI

came in at 103K AED which is around £14,400 (only cheap cos of no tax)

The DSG is here on the petrol version of the FR only at the moment - if you want a diesel DSG you have to buy the lower model 140 PS stylance
