I recently moved from a 300bhp Impreza to a 184 FR. This was purely down to fuel costs and needing a more reliable car. The 184 is definitely slower off the mark and you feel the power drop off that I just didn't have in the impreza. But in real world driving the torque of the diesel is impressive and the acceralation is more than enough.

I was looking heavily into the GTD at the time too, and never really planned on going Seat. But when I drove the FR it was clear it was almost as good as the GTD in every way, but was 3k less on average for similar spec and condition.

I've had the car a month and my long term MPG is around 50, which is a mix of town and motorway.

That definitely isn’t a bad MPG average, especially coming from the Impreza. GTD 7.5’s are still pretty highly priced atm so I don’t think I’m going to go for it tbh. Still need to sell my Cupra too!

Yea my impreza was mid to high teens at best with its MPG. Couple that with only using 99 octane and it was costing me a small fortune to run with my work being a 13 mile dual carriageway run each way.

My previous car was a pd105 Octavia estate remapped to 140 and I could overtake in the that when I wanted to. The 184 is not a red light drag specialist at all, but get it going and it picks up absolutely fine. My MPG is much better than those quoted throughout the thread and I have to make my way through Reading each day. I have done 20,000 miles now in roughly 16 months, my figures are linked in my signature. Might be style of driving rather than the car? I know my wife gets nowhere near my fuel consumption on the same routes and I still have fun on my drive

Don’t know if I’m being stupid here but I can’t see your signature? I’m guessing the 184 you still consider more than enough power needed?

Weird, hope this works for you https://www.spritmonitor.de/en/detail/877265.html but it should read 55.2mpg average.

I would say it was more than enough to whip around a car on a normal A/B road and plenty to join a motorway or DC at 70 :)
