Hi, my sons car is a leon fr 184 diesel and it's got a problem with burning oil and also a DPF problem, we have been trying a few things to try and get it sorted, the pressure sensor is giving high readings up to 1000 hpa when under load thought it might be a faulty sensor so it,s been swapped for the one on my car a B8 Passat.
what i have noticed is that my Passat has 2 pressure sensors with one pipe coming from each but on his it only has one sensor and only one pipe coming from it which doesn't look right, does anyone know if this is correct i can't find any information anywhere.

If you mean the DPF sensor, then yes, it only has one pipe and the other has no connection. My 184 is the same and I initially thought is was wrong. Finally found some info somewhere that it's quite normal.

If the car is burning oil the DPF will be catching a lot of it and that won't help. Could be the DPF is getting bunged up. Do you have a OBD reader? I have a Carista dongle and use VAG DPF app to look at my DPF stats.

1000hpa is off the chart, so something isn't right. The sensors can get mucky over time and give false readings. Also worth removing the single pipe and making sure it's not blocked or restricted.

Questions:

  • What mileage is the car?
  • Any idea how much ash is in the DPF?
  • How often does it regen?
  • How do you know it is burning oil or is it just using a lot? (the car has a habit of losing oil via other methods)
  • What is the hpa at idle and pre/post regen?
Could be 2 separate issues or they are related. Hard to say.

The car has done 140k and the oil usage has been getting worse over the last year now using about 500/750 ml over about 250 miles it does have a bit of a leak but suspect it’s burning most of it , no smell of oil tail pipes are clean and has just past mot no problem.
Ash is on 57% and it’s doing a regen about every 30 miles
Hpa at idle is 170 and rises to about 1000 when under load.
Car has also been getting low boost code P0299 which I have been told could be down to the pressure in the DPF
I do have vag DPF I’ve included the screen shot of the last regen, have just noticed the soot measured vs calculated is wildly different.
