Hi guys!

What is the "big" difference between the leon cupra r and the "regular" cupra?

Btw. i'm new here! Hope it's okay with dumb questions:(

Best regards, Thomas ,Denmark

Been asked before, but the "R" has:

Bigger Turbo (K04-23 vs K03S) and different manifold/downpipe,
Extra Intercooler,
Different Inlet Manifold and different charge piping,
Larger MAF/Different Airbox Top
Larger Injectors,
Lower Compression.

Different Suspension (the front of an R is off a TT225/S3, front of a Cupra is Mk4 Golf. The rear is the same, but, apparently, different settings)
Brembos and bigger discs (on UK models, option on Euro models?), R32 rear calipers and bigger vented discs

Interior differences, body differences, exhaust is different, wheels.

+ remeber there are 2 power levels on the LCR, 210 and 225.

A remapped LC may well devlier 210 and keep up with the 210 LCR but the handling and braking will not be anywhere near as good.

Thanks feel :)

CupraUK:
I'm aware of the 210/225 differnce, at the moment i'm waiting for my 210 cupra r. But the dealer is soooooooooo slow!(.

Have also though about chipping my cupra r, I dont like the fact that a chipped 20vt 180 hp is able to keep up:cry:

ha ha... If I remember correctly the 210 and 225 both remap to the same power level. (265)

They should do because the components are pretty much identical. The differences are in the software settings...

Also, I have read a few times that the 210 is actually the horsepower rating, and therefore is 213PS. With the 225PS engine being 222HP. Making a stock difference of only 12HP. Not 100% sure about that though...

That might make sense... as the number of times I've seen 210 LCR rolling road graphs with closer to 220bhp is unreal. So taking into account dyno lottery, it's still almost always over 210bhp.

My 210 made 210bhp with a massive amount of heatsoak (had been driven hard on motorway, then tested on local roads, then spent an hour on a rolling road for diagnostics all one after the other) so with a cooler engine I'd expect that to rise.

other differences are:
LCR has black interior roof lining,
red bits on air vents.
225's have red band at top of steering wheel
seats have 'R' showing (options were standard sports seats or recaro which are rare. even rarer are the recaro rears) LC have standards or leather as option.

LCR has different steering rack, and the steering is heavier on the LCR compared to the LC.
LCR 15mm lower.
abviously they look different
LCR has lower strut brace as said previously is basically TT set up at the front.
LCR 18" wheels......LC 17" 2002 onwards.

LCR single oval type ...... LC twin pipe exhaust

EU spec ran 312mm single pot brakes on 17's

18's with brembo's an expensive option

UK spec just had brembo's & 18's

Correct

Correct

:D

17's? not sure they would clear the brakes.

HELLO DUDE IF YOU WANT THE CHEAPER OPTION IVE I HAVE VENTED 312s WITH BRADED HOSES BUT USE STANDARD PADS AS THE ARE SOFTER THEN AFTERMARKET AND NEARLY TWICE THE STOPPING POWER,NO REALLY I TRIED GREENSTUFF THEY ARE GOOD FOR SHOW CARS AS THEY GIVE 90%LESS BRAKE DUST.

nice name mate......

original i suppose.

buy a cupra and make it a sleeper, i.e as fast as a standard r but looking more subtle.

also brembos are a viable cheaper option via porsche brake setup!!
