I have a Leon FR PD150, that is now blowing a fair chunk of black smoke if yo attempt to load the engine up. Fairly sure Turbo is spinning up, so that's good!!

I have a damaged pipe, that i believe is the Intercooler - Turbo pipe, it's a black plastic moulded pipe, that comes from the bottom Right (as facing) of the engine, up the front, then round to the left and then toward the back of the engine bay - pic attached.

Can clearly see on the pic that it's not attached! and it's damaged where it joins up - hence it isn't possible to seal it up.

so, question is, is it easy enough to do?? Anyone know if it's a common pipe that's used on this engine what ever car it's in??

Had to crawl it home earlier. Runs ok ish as long as you keep around 30 in 3rd, and don't attempt to use any boost. Is crawling it home likely to have done any other damage??

Cheers - sorry for all q's!!!

Thats your problem mate, They are a week point on all pd engines, normally they go at the intercooler first.

If you plan on tunning the engine with a remap, I would recommend a sfs performance kit, that replaces the whole lenght of pipe. If not go to your dealear get a new spring clip and seal. I would do all of them while your at it.

Oh if you run it with a large boost leak and push it to hard it will go into limp mode, Looking at your pipe your be able to reconnect it. release the spring clip by prising it with a screwdrive not right of the plastic but enough so you can reconnect the pipe. Your then be able to push in the pipe and then push the clip back in place. Your be ok, until you give it some and it will pop of again so get yourself some new springs and seals.

Nah, tried all the in the lay by on the way home tonight!! Even "fashioned" a bit of a "plaster" to try and hold it all up - helped a little, but not much!

Where the spring clip "locks" in place on the RHS of the plastic pipe, it's kind of mangled, not badly, but enough so that it can't get a tight lock on it. So i think the plastic pipe needs replacing.

ok then. If you intend tunning the get a sfs kit, If not just a oem part from seat. there may be people on here willing to sell there old pipes!

hi mate if u want another standard one i have just upgraded mine to sfs and have the old one spare it is only a year old as i had this trouble too but at the time didnt know all the options open to me just text me 07815132601 thanks paul

Dont bother with "upgraded" kits. Simply replace the O rings and horse shoe clips and all should be well. This will save you ALOT of money, time and bother, there are alternatives to making the standard system as good as it should be.
