Cambelt wasn't changed at 30k service mate so don't panic(just oil and filter for me as I had inspection done at 20k service). I thought Cambelt was due at the next 40k service but I'm not entirely sure on that either (may be 60k?). I just asked the dealer at the time as he was checking their prices on their PC.
My car has done 29,700 miles this year, which was mostly commuting to and from work. I even managed to get 71mpg
out of the trip computer last Tuesday as I was driving on an almost empty tank and wanted to make sure I got home . I'm even on the original tyres!!
The miles should reduce this next year as I'll only be using the car every other week (sharing).
Problems so far; Door leaks (all 4), Driver seat clicks, Rear wash/wipe pipe detached (which lead to dealer breaking rear hatch trim - still waiting for parts many months later), stone chips and a lack of touch up paint , and flies (now dead) in my rear light lenses which is odd.:dunno:

not had many problems other than a couple of crappy dealers (found a good one now) and the paint quality. I've had a 10k service which was just a oil/filter change and then a bigger service a few thousand ago, so 30k should be due around end of September I reckon.
I've beat you to the trip. an average of 72.8mpg one night over about 15 miles. Usual thing with the trip computer start the journey and it shows 40 miles left in the tank. Move about 1/2 mile and it says 5miles! Panic mode on and coast most of the way!

Anyhow, do these cambelts go to 40,000 miles ok? If it snaps before 40,000 miles but the car still is under warranty will they pay for it to be fixed? (With full SEAT service history)
The reason I ask is because my brother in law has an Alfa 156 that snapped its cambelt 9000 miles before it was due to be changed. The car had full Alfa service history but was at 63000 miles, 3000 over the cut off from the proper Alfa warranty and they told him to whistle when he asked about a goodwill claim. Not the same as above, but not far off.

All ive got is a duplicate service book (Bryan Brothers, say no more! The handbook is dated 2000 so thats out of date too!) and it doesnt list schedules. The someone mentioned earlier had theirs changed at 40k as per Skoda schedules, plus there are other threads saying 40k and some saying 60k. Its a long time away (turned 7k today), but i'm planning on chopping mine in at 3yrs old (when the warranty runs out!) but if it had done 40k miles before that and landed me with a £600 bill i'd have chopped it in before the service at 39500 miles and the £500-600 would go towards the next one! - mainly because the salesmen usually have no idea which service is which (and how much they cost!)

(On that note, a mate has a 2000W Impreza Turbo. I suggested instead of getting the cambelt done/extending the warranty/mot/service/body inspection he trade it in (he's on a high-ish APR loan). So he sits in front of the salesman and says "im thinking of trading it in for a STi because its due blah blah blah and thats going to cost me £1k. So the salesman values it, then knocks off £1000 for that work plus fixing a scratch! If he'd said nowt the salesman probably would have been none the wiser and just knocked £100 for the paint job!)

Adding in cambelt replacement costs makes the full maintenance plan for my Ibiza TDI look even more attractive...

Is the 130TDi a Pump Deuse engine? If so, me R'ingTFM the cam-belt change is at 60K miles.

If i were you i'd do two things:
1 - remortgage the house
2 - get the tensioners changed anyway, if it works out at only £100 more, its worth the extra.

Yep the TDI 130 is a PD.
Assuming 60k cambelt change, then 3yrs full maintenance plan at 25k miles/yr covers my cambelt, tyres, all services, all maintenance parts (eg pads, fluids etc) and the clutch I think too, should it wear out by 75k.
The monthly payments sound a lot to start with, but when you add up the individual costs of tyres, services, cambelt & possible clutch, over that mileage it starts to make sense !

That's silly money. Not the same car but I bought my own belt (£12 or so) and tensioner (didn't need replacing but changed anyway £35 or so) and paid £60 labour for mine. Local dealership wanted £129 + VAT (and maybe + parts too)!!

rememeber that the warranty also expires at 60k for cars registered after 1st Nov 2001 if in UK or 2 years old unlimited if bought in Europe

To have the cambelt checked, is it the same labour process as having it changed? How much will it cost to get checked?
