Not required, but its the best mounting option in my opinion.
You could always go for the version that mounts like a satnav if you don't want to lose a vent.

one of the best purchases i made for my Leon. The fitment of the insert is really good,and the content of what the gauge does is really good. Its even highlighted that i have a knackered thermostat. Gets a thumbs up from me

Very just lower the drivers lower panel to route the wiring to the OBD port.

It really is that simple!! once the lower dash is off - no joke 5 mins to install!! then screw it all back together and job done!
Just had a look. Looks the bees knees!!!! Couldn't find how much they are though. If you don't mind me' asking .... How much???
seems to be well worth the money , diagnostic tool and , boost gauge neatly fitted instead of gauges popping out all over the place
