Liverpool Seat Paint Problems Again.........

Hi guys and gals.
In december 2009 we took ownership of a 2007 model Seat Ibiza 1.4 Sport love the car it is awesome to drive, however it has had teething problems the front and back headlights had to be replaces due to condesation and the bonnet had to be completly resprayed due to rust marks and a whole load of stone chippings, this work was all carried out in the last week of January first week of february, now something else is going wrong with the paint work on the drivers side and passanger side front wheel arches, the paint is hazing over in a whiteish and is discoloring then upon closer examination there are little white spots on it and what looks like the lacquer is starting to peel, this car has always been handwashed by me using Auto Glym nothing more and nothing less so I always take good care of my car, so what should I do take it back to Liverpool Seat and get them to check it out seeing as the car is still under warranty and this looks to me like a manufacturing defect to the paint work or it has been caused in the paint shop at Liverpool Seat, the car has only done 149 milles since it was purchased so i know for a fact it is nothing that I have done. What do you guys think?
Any help would be awesome.

Well after going to Liverpool Seat yesterday and talking to the aftersales manager Tom Yeoman who saw what is happening to the paintwork, he told us that it shouldnt be like that and that we are not to touch it, we emailed photographs to him also yesterday and has said that the car still being under warranty that we are not to worry and it will be sorted, so happy days.

Tom is a great guy, if you ever have any issues, just ask to speak with him & he will sort it out.

He also knows about this site & how powerful it is in regards to the dealership networ. Mention SCN when you phone up for a service & they will usually give you a discount ;-)

You can get stone chips done under warranty?
I have tones and I'd love them to be done :D

Yeah yeah, we got them done only after we saw them all over the car the day of collection on the bonett was about 80 odd stone chips caused by the previous driver/owner and 3 rust spots, so we complained and eventually the bonett got a respray. Like I say the problem now is the front passanger and drivers side wheel arches, as I posted, took it to the Liverpool Seat show room on Friday and Tom who was totally awesome pointed out to me and did say that the paintwork should not be doing what it is currently doing which is the lacquer is peeling and going all spotty and the paint is going from it's normal color of metallic zenith grey and fading into a whitish haze and discoloring, he alsoi pointed out to me that it was nothing that I have done as all I use to wash the car is Auto Glym which is one of the best you can buy, that and plus the car has only done 150 miles since I bought it since December, but yeah he is taking care of it it is all covered under warranty so it's all good and hop to have it sorted soon, if I had any idea on how to upload photos on here I would be able to give you guys an idea of whats going on and also what your thoughts of what it most likely could be. But am gonna chill because as I say I know it's getting sorted. So that makes me happy.

Ok had an email from Tom yesterday saying that he got the photos we sent to him but Seat want to see these photogrpahs again with the chassis Number included, tried doing this yesterday by using a piece of masking tape and writing the number down on it, but it didnt work out, so phoned Tom told him that I couldnt do this so has offered to take them for us but we have to again take the car all the way back into Liverpool City Centre all this messing around, the car is still inside it's warranty, why oh why do Seat make things all the more difficult for thier customers, FYI this is not the Dealers fault this time it's Seat themselves messing about.

Sorry to hear about your paint troubles. Ive not heard of laquer lifting from Ibiza,s before ? Is it possible the car has had a repair at some time. Does not always mean a crash as cars have slipped on transporters and needed paint even before they hit the showroom.

Best of luck

Well if it has had a repair at some point in the past before we owned it they never told us about it, Nick the sales guy who sold us the car told us to go ahead and have this paint protection that cost £250 to do put on the car, we are starting to regret that decission as we feel as we have been conned, dont get me wrong it is an amazing car and all, but this should not be happening to a 3 year old car that has only done 150 miles since we got it in december, I am starting to think that when it went in for a respray in January for rust on the bonett which was damage done by the previous owner "A Rental Company" of all things, could the guys in the body/paint shop done something that has taken time to come through, I am starting to think that this could be the case, can anyone tell me how to upload some photographs on here so I can show you guys what the damage is to a car that aint even 3 years old yet and still under warranty.?
Because if we get messed around by Seat in anyway over this we are not going to sit back and let it happen this car has cost us alot of money. [:@]

The body shop will sometimes blend the paint to get a match. What this means is they will feather spray the next panel along from the repaired panel to match it in. When I had my Polo door repaired I found they had also sprayed both the front and rear wing with a light coat as well.

However a bonnet is different as its one reflective surface other than perhaps the tops of the front wings which might need some blending but I cant see the need for more.

It does seem to me that some paint work has been performed before you got it. Is your's a 3 door? Have a good look around try gently pulling back some of the rear window rubbers to see if you can see a ridge of paint. Also look carefully around the inside edges of the door for signs of paint or a new door skin Same with the boot look near the rubbers for signs of masking or over spray.

Wel what can I say after e-mailing the pohotographs of the paint work to Tom at Liverpool Seat and having been told he is waiting for authorization from Seat to give the go ahead and then having another phone call to say that somebody named Steve who is a paint specialist is going to come out to the house and photograph the car and send them of to Seat for authorization (erm did I miss something I already photogrpahed it and sent him the email attachment with the chasis number included and now they want Steve to come out and photogrpah it so they can authorise the work, have I missed something? Or are we just being passed around the whole of Seat like pass the parcel) anywyas after talking to Steve the other day on the phone he promissed us he would be here late afternoon on either monday yesterday no sign or tuesday today again no sign no phone call nothing, and really now getting extreamly annoyed about the situation after staying in all afternoon this is going a bit beyond a joke, and to be honest we are not laughing, this has now gone a little too far. And yes I know that people from Liverpool Seat read this forum and so do others, time for something to be done about this now I think, it's only been a month of waiting. Come on Seat enough of the messing around what are you gonna do about this situation?????????????
A somewhat VERY ANGRY CUSTOMER.

Krussle I hope they do play fair, the car has hardly been used since the day we got it back in December 2009, it has been back more to the dealer than we have used it. We are going to be dropping Tom a phone Call tomorrow and Steve on his mobile number to see whats going on, for as I have said it is like we are being treated like a joke.
Luke c. Yes it seems like they are pissing us about and really it's not a good thing to do to a customer who has only had a car for 4 months with problems l;ike this and they have the cheek to call us to arrange the car to be booked in for it's first MOT, it is what people call a bad joke, no I think a line is going to have to be drawn here, the car is still under warranty till December 2010 so yes I think that really paying £150 over 5 years for a car that well has only been out on the road 5 times in the 4 months since we have owned it, this needs to be sorted, I dont think that the O.F.T the Financial Services Authority and I also don't think that V.W Finance would find this amusing in any form or context. Oh also Luke C what was the:ban: notice for?

could be the paint protection, have heard a few bodyshop horror stories matching panel's and paint etc with that stuff

in their defence i would say having the 'paint expert' retake photos and inspect it is by no means pissing you about in fact it shows they are on the case ands i would expect just that to be happening to be honest - most would just ignore ya

as for the mot reminder dont shoot the service girl just yet - computers churn em out by date for postage or as yours a personal call and won't list history etc so they are not to know - in fact i'd be more impressed they actually called as an mot reminder is always welcome - better than running out and getting crushed no ?

That could be it, as we paid the £250 or £300 extra to have it done, and I to have heared from people that the paint protection don't even work, so I think we have been ripped off in the department, but like I say the OFT the Financial Services Authority and V.W Finance are going to be hearing from us by Friday at the latest if Steve or Tom have not sorted this situation out by then, I mean for god sakes it has been a month already, I would be interested to know what you guys would do, if you dont mind me asking in this situation?

I must admit after a month you should have heard what the next call is to be by now i would have hoped

have you still got the car ?

if you can't get any idea whats happening now i would be looking at an independent inspection or bodyshop for a 2nd opinion to argue your case with

Yeah mate the car is still here up the drive way like I say only been used 5 times at the most by us since December the rest of the time it has been used by Seat to take it back to the dealer for the same thing that is happening now paint problems.
Dont get me wrong it's an amzing car to drive, but the paint work shouldnt look the way it is looking.
