Well you got too admit if your gonna crash you gotta make it look good. My job in the army is to recovery vehicles and its awesome when you see tanks upside because someones flipped it (as long as no one is injured)

That is the old car. I thought the advert was a bit of a contradiction, anyone with half a brain should realise that if an insurance company is willing to pay out £19k then the damage must be anything but light!!!!

I've bought a car in the past (my old red MK2 Leon PD170 FR) that was crash repaired. It was from a Seat dealer and it took me a while before I found out. I also found out that they lied to me about it's history. They told me it was one of their demonstrators and in fact they bought it at aucton, repaired it and sold it on. It wasn't until I took it to a bodyshop for some mods to be done that they spotted it and pointed it out to me.

isnt this grounds for miss sale and evidently a full refund is available. thats what HPI is for and dealers are not allowed to miss lead on HPI

What the pictures don't show is the damage to the rear chassis leg - bent and folded. This has apparently been 'jigged' out.

To be fair I wouldn't say the advert was misleading, just very economical with the truth - but who here would state they had a car that was f*cked up by a BMW and then they fixed it dirt cheap....?

the sad thing is that someone out there probably will part their hard earned money on this car. What if they join this forum afterwards and post a picture of their new car that they're so excited about and then someone breaks the news that it didn't have 'light' damage, it actually has chassis damage and a fully ripped off wheel etc. I'd be gutted.

You have a fair point Jarre and I certainly wasn't condoning the advert. My earlier post on the matter points to the fact that 'light' damage doesn't cost £15k plus to fix - which it would have to be if the insurance company paid out £19k (they didn't, they paid £18k). So hopefully everyone who looks at this car is clued up and the person that buys it will know that 'light' damage is a 'loose' term...
